North Korea condemns US decision to send tanks to Ukraine

The US is to blame for the crisis in Ukraine, said a statement from Kim Yo-jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

She accuses the US of crossing the line by sending tanks to Ukraine.

– What lurks in the background is the US’s evil intention to exercise hegemony by further expanding the proxy war and destroying Russia, she says.

North Korea will always stand united with Russia’s soldiers and population, she adds.

– The world would have been a brighter, safer and calmer place, had it not been for the United States, says Kim’s sister.

Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden promised to send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Several other Western countries have also promised to send tanks to the country.

Poland will apply for German permission to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 23, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

At the same time, he emphasizes that such a permit is not decisive for the country’s delivery of tanks to Ukraine. Instead, he emphasizes that Poland will build a coalition together with several other countries that will be responsible for the shipment.

– We will ask for such approval, but this is not the most important thing, Morawiecki said when he visited Poznan in western Poland on Monday.

The German-made Leopard 2 tank can be used more offensively than the military equipment Ukraine has so far received from Western countries. So far, Germany has therefore both refused to send such tanks directly to Ukraine and to give other countries permission to do so.

– Will not stand in the way

On Sunday, however, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated that Germany will not stand in the way of a shipment from Poland, while pointing out that Poland has not formally requested this yet.

When asked about Baerbock’s statement, Morawiecki says that her words give a “glimpse of hope” and that Germany will possibly be able to participate in the coalition.

– We exert constant pressure on the government in Berlin to make the Leopard tanks available, said Morawiecki.

At the top of the wish list

He states that Germany has over 350 active Leopard tanks and around 200 in storage.

The Ukrainian government believes that tanks, and especially the Leopard model, are absolutely essential to being able to overcome Russian invasion forces.

Among other things, as a result of its aggressive role in the Second World War, Germany has been careful not to supply weapons to countries at war. But after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February last year, the country did a complete turnaround. However, delivering heavy and more offensive weapons is far from over.

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The private Russian mercenary group claimed last week to have taken control of Soledar after days of fierce fighting.

On the Wagner group’s own news website Ria Fan, one of the group’s commanders says on Saturday that they will send around 20 trucks with dead Ukrainian soldiers over to Ukrainian-controlled areas.

Ria Fan is part of the media company of the Wagner group’s founder and leader Yevgenij Prigozhin.

It is not stated how many fallen soldiers there are, but the commander says that the Ukrainian forces suffered heavy losses in the battles for Soledar.

Ukrainian authorities have said that Russian forces suffered heavy losses in the fighting. But there have been no figures that it is possible to confirm, about losses on both sides.

Russia claims the fighting is getting more intense in the south of Ukraine

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 20, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

In recent months, there has been less activity on the front in the south than in the east.

Now “the intensity of the military activity” is increasing, according to spokesman for the Russian occupation board in Zaporizhzhia, Vladimir Rogov.

He says Russia has taken control of the village of Lobkove. The village is 50 kilometers south of the Ukrainian-controlled city of Zaporizhzhya.

Russian forces had attacked a number of Ukrainian positions with artillery, according to Rogov. He has referred to the attacks as a “local offensive”.

The Ukrainian defense forces said on Friday that Russia has attacked more than 20 settlements.

Governor: Five killed in Russian attack on block of flats in Dnipro

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 14, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The report that five had been killed came shortly after a report that two had been killed and 27 injured in the attack. Among the wounded are six children, according to Governor Valentyn Reznichenko.

Photos released by the Ukrainian presidential office show part of a block of flats completely collapsed. There also appears to be a fire at the site.

Russia directed a new attack wave with cruise missiles against Ukraine on Saturday. Explosions have been reported in several parts of the country, including Kyiv, where the air defense was put into operation.

Dnipro is the fourth largest city in Ukraine and is located southeast of Kyiv, on the river of the same name.
