Trains Derail in Russia, One Fatality Reported, Sabotage Investigated
Gatchina, Russia โฃ – A train driver was killed โand anotherโ train derailed in separate incidents โฃacross Russiaโข on Saturday, prompting an examination into possible sabotage.โข
The first โฃincident occurred in the Leningrad region near the Gatchina district,where a diesel โฃlocomotive derailed โsaturday โขevening. Governor Alexander Drozdenka reported โon Telegram thatโ the train driver died after becoming trapped in the cab and later succumbing โto injuries in โan ambulance.
Shortly after, aโ second train derailed furtherโ south, carrying 15 โempty โtanks. No injuriesโ were reported in that โขincident,according to a statement โขreleasedโ byโค authorities.
“The version of a possible sabotage is being investigated,” Drozdenka added.
Thes incidents are the latest in aโข series of disruptions to russia’s railway network, including previous derailments, โคexplosions, and fires. Russianโ authorities โhave repeatedly blamed Ukraine for these events, โalleging acts of sabotage.
