Milan: Coach AC Milan Paulo Fonseca was unable to introduce his new striker Alvaro Morata when he visited Parma’s headquarters in the second week of the Italian Serie A League 2024/2025, on Saturday afternoon (24/8). Will he ask “boy wonder” Francesco Camarda to add weapons to the front line?

Morata suffered a muscle injury after scoring the goal that helped Milan secure a 2-2 draw against Torino in the opening week. The Spanish national team striker has been sidelined for three weeks and will only return after the international break next September.

As a result of Morata’s absence Paulo Fonseca had to gather his brains to fill the holes in Milan’s front line. Right now, he only has Luka Jovic who plays as a true striker. The rest, players like Rafael Leao, Noah Okafor and Christian Pulisic are normal players, although they can be used as center forwards as well.

In this regard, several Italian media had then speculated that Fonseca could contact Francesco Camarda, who is currently competing with Milan Futuro in Serie C.

Camarda, at just 16 years old, is often in the spotlight of the Italian media thanks to his brilliant performances in front of goal. Last season, the player nicknamed “miracle boy” was called several times to the main team of Milan and played as a substitute.

“No, he (Camarda) will not be with us. We are very worried about our young players, they played in the pre-season. However, we have to understand that they are in a period of different. Our young players have quality, we have to choose the right time for them to play,” said Fonseca as mentioned Sempermilan.

Fonseca confirmed that his decision not to bring Camarda for the game against Parma was not because he did not believe in the player’s qualities. But because they don’t want to put too much burden on the young players.

“In my opinion, we have to create conditions where they (young players) can be successful, this is not the time for us to put pressure on them (because they have to replace them with high level players). right, they get a chance to play,” he continued.

At this time, Fonseca also confirmed which player would replace Morata to appear as a starter in the game against Parma later. The choice is between Luka Jovic or Noah Okafor.

“I have to be honest, (Noah) Okafor will play tomorrow (against Parma). This will be a different game from the game against Torino. All this week, Okafor showed the qualities we needed for this game. At the same time Luka will be useful in other areas,” he said.
