Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced that his forces attacked more than 50 Lebanese Hezbollah targets in Syria and 3,400 targets in Lebanon since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip about 4 months ago.

Announcement

On Saturday, Hagari indicated that 150 Hezbollah cells in Lebanon were destroyed, and 200 people were killed in these strikes.

Hagari did not talk about the losses among the ranks of the Israeli army, as a result of the ongoing battles with Hezbollah on the southern border of Lebanon.

The battles between the Israeli army and Hezbollah fighters began on October 7, coinciding with the war on the Gaza Strip.

According to Agence France-Presse, at least approximately 250 people were killed in Lebanon, most of them Hezbollah fighters, including at least 26 civilians.

It is noteworthy that the war in the Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of more than 27,000 Palestinians and the wounding of more than 66,000, most of them children and women, according to the Palestinian authorities. It also caused a catastrophic humanitarian crisis, according to the United Nations.

The war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip continues for the 109th day in a row, with fierce battles taking place in Khan Yunis, the largest city in the southern Gaza Strip, in which two hundred Israeli soldiers have been killed since the start of the ground operation in late October. In parallel, pressure is increasing on Israel in preparation for a post-war plan that includes establishing a Palestinian state. Regarding northern Israel, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu stressed on Monday that his country seeks to avoid “escalation” on the border between Israel and Lebanon.

Palestinian Perspectives on Israel’s War: Voices of Raya, Rania, and Riyadh

We brought together three Palestinians to tell us how they feel about the war waged by the State of Israel. A war which, in their eyes, did not begin on October 7 but well before, with colonization which has lasted for 75 years

Raya lived part of her life in Tulkarem in the West Bank. Rania was expelled from Ramallah at the age of 13 for drawing the Palestinian flag. Riyad is a restaurateur in Geneva, after a stint in Kuwait and Jordan, his father having been forced to leave Palestine in 1948.

All her life Rania has fought for justice, but today she feels shame for international institutions “which always arrive too late”.

Raya, she speaks of “genocide” to describe what is happening at the moment in Gaza.

As for Riyadh, it is outraged by the fact that the State of Israel is killing children by the thousands while it says it is targeting Hamas.

Israel announced on Wednesday that it had suffered its largest losses in more than a month after its forces were ambushed In the Gaza Strip At a time when it faces increasing diplomatic isolation with the rising number of civilian deaths and a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip. Fierce fighting is taking place in the north and south of the Gaza Strip, a day after the United Nations demanded an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in Gaza.

The Hebrew state reported that ten of its soldiers were killed in the past twenty-four hours, including a colonel in the Golani Infantry Brigade and a lieutenant colonel who commanded a battalion in the Golani Brigade. This is the largest loss among Israeli forces in one day since 15 were killed on October 31.

The Israeli army stated that most of the deaths occurred in the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City, north of the Strip, where the forces were ambushed as they were trying to rescue another group of soldiers who attacked fighters in a building. An army official said that Israel paid a “very heavy price” in the incident.

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the incident showed that Israeli forces would never be able to subjugate Gaza. Hamas continued, “We say to the Zionists that your failed leadership has no regard for the lives of your soldiers who are killed and injured every day in the dozens, and you have no choice but to withdraw from Gaza. The longer you stay there, the greater the bill of your deaths and losses will be, and you will emerge from it with the tail of disappointment and loss, God willing.”

Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas’ political bureau, said in a television speech that any future arrangements in Gaza without Hamas are “an illusion and a mirage.”

For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the army will fight despite international pressure for a ceasefire. Netanyahu told soldiers in Gaza via walkie-talkies, “We will continue until the end, until victory, until the elimination of Hamas.” He continued, “I say this in the face of great pain, but also in the face of international pressure. Nothing will stop us.”

A ceasefire agreement was announced by Hamas officials and Israel on Wednesday. A 4-day truce should be observed from Friday in the Gaza Strip. Fifty hostages, including 30 of the 40 captured children, will be released by Hamas, in exchange for at least 150 Palestinian prisoners. Israel and Hamas said they were ready to resume fighting at the end of the truce. Qatar was at the center of the talks which also included Egypt and the United States.

As the ceasefire is not yet in force, for the moment, the fighting is still ongoing. In the West Bank, more than 200 Palestinians have been killed since the start of the war, as many as in 2022, which was already the bloodiest since 2005. 1,400 people have been arrested by the Israeli army.

Israeli snipers target Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza, causing injuries among the displaced

The Palestinian Red Crescent Ambulance announced on Friday that one person was killed and twenty-eight others were injured as a result of Israeli snipers shooting at Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza on Friday, hours after the bombing of the largest Al-Shifa Medical Complex in the Strip.

The Hamas government announced on Friday that at least 13 people were killed and dozens injured in a bombing of the Shifa complex, with Israel increasing pressure on medical centers that shelter tens of thousands of displaced people.

Dr. Muhammad Abu Salamiya, director of the Al-Shifa Hospital Complex, told AFP that Friday was the day “hospitals were targeted.”

He added while the sounds of bullets were heard outside the hospital, “The occupation targeted all hospitals. We say to the occupation and the whole world that we are still in the hospital with the patients, with thousands of displaced people, with the wounded, and with the medical staff.”

He added, “We will serve in this hospital and will not leave it. We will remain with the wounded and sick, even if we treat them by candlelight.”

He warned that “fuel will run out within hours,” stressing that “we will stay with them and will not leave this place no matter the cost, and we tell the world that hospitals are protected under international and humanitarian law in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention.”
