Wang has fostered strong relationships with tech leaders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and has cultivated connections in Washington. He has also testified before Congress, and Scale AI has a strong client base within the federal government.
Meta is competing with OpenAI and Google in the AI space. By bringing in Wang, Zuckerberg appears to be betting on a business-oriented approach to AI development, mirroring the leadership style of Sam Altman, as opposed to a primarily research-focused strategy.
