Enjoy a Rain-free Weekend in New York City with Ideal Weather Conditions for the Marathon

NEW YORK — Could it be a truly rainless weekend?

It’s something we haven’t seen in a couple of months, but this weekend we may go all day Saturday and Sunday without any precipitation. It’s been eight straight weekends of rain, so a break would be more than welcome.

Before we get into the weekend, we still have to get through the coldest air of the season taking over the New York City area. Central Park dropped to 35 degrees Thursday morning, the coldest level since March 30.

Friday will have another cold start, although not as cold as Thursday, and temperatures will begin to recover to near-typical levels throughout the day. Highs will reach 50 degrees with clear skies, before we enter the first dry weekend in two months.

And the break couldn’t come at a better time for thousands of runners at the New York City Marathon on Sunday, as conditions look ideal for participants and spectators alike. Temperatures will be in the 50s early in the morning and rise to the 60s in the afternoon, with plenty of sun shining through the clouds.

And don’t forget: Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, so remember to turn your clocks back an hour that night (for an extra hour of sleep… or at the bar, anyway). And with that change also comes earlier sunsets: Sunday’s sunset will be the first before 5 pm of the season.

Rain is once again possible on Election Day, although not those systems that look strong enough to be a real problem across the region. Colder temperatures follow to conclude the week, as they will only reach the upper 40s and low 50s.

New York City Weather: A Sunny and Pleasant Halloween Weekend Forecast

New York City Weather: A Sunny and Pleasant Halloween Weekend Forecast

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 24, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

NEW YORK — Could it be: two weekends in a row with good weather?

Let’s not jinx it, but the forecast shows that Halloween weekend will be a real winner (although Halloween itself doesn’t look that pretty, but we won’t talk about that just yet).

And before that, there’s a chance the New York City area could hit near-record levels during the week. While it may start to get cold again on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, with some icy spots possible north and west of the city, temperatures will be seasonal and pleasant both days.

Thursday will warm up even more, reaching 70 degrees. It will approach record levels that day and again on Friday, feeling almost like summer. Or at least in late summer: average highs in early September are in the mid-70s.

Perhaps most importantly, it appears to be dry at least through Sunday, giving all three states a completely dry Saturday for the first time in apparently two months. Saturday will again see highs in the mid-70s, although the cooldown begins on Sunday as highs will be about 10 degrees colder.

The streak of good weather comes to an end on Tuesday, which is not a good time for trick-or-treating. Halloween looks great with chances of rain, but that forecast could change as the date gets closer.

See below the exclusive forecast from The Authority in El Tiempo:

Monday

Maximum: 59 degrees. Mainly sunny. Clear night with lows in the 30s and 40s

Mars

Maximum: 63 degrees. Partly sunny

Wednesday

Maximum: 68 degrees. Mostly cloudy

Thursday

Maximum: 74 degrees. Partly sunny

Friday

Maximum: 75 degrees. Partly sunny

Saturday

Maximum: 76 degrees. Partly sunny

Rainy Weekend Ahead: New York City Weather Forecast

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 10, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

NEW YORK — The New York City area continues its streak of bad luck this weekend, as another round of rain appears to dampen the chances of enjoying clear fall plans.

A streak of bad weather has already inundated the region over the first few weekends of the season, and next weekend looks to be no different.

So what about the rest of the week?

Much of the work week is forecast to be fairly quiet. Fall temperatures have really settled into the area and our mornings should start off chilly before a cool afternoon.

Most of us will stay dry overnight into Tuesday morning, but a passing shower or two is possible before most of us wake up. Definitely don’t expect to see much rain until Friday.

Now, as we get to Saturday, things get worse.

Heavy rain is estimated to bring up to a few inches of rain to nearly everyone in the tri-state area early next week. Rain will begin on Saturday and continue through Monday, tapering off slightly each day.

Once things dry, they surely cool down.

Expect temperatures next week to stay stuck in the 50s for a few days.

NEW YORK — Although it will feel like summer in the New York City area in the coming days, the skies are taking a hit as air quality drops again.

The haze returned Monday as smoke from wildfires burning in Canada returned to the city. Smoke will linger through Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, but don’t expect things to get as bad as they did during the summer.

Smoke and haze are likely to remain much higher in the air than in June and July, meaning impacts won’t be as severe for those on the ground. Compared to the summer, when air quality reached dangerous levels, this week will be much less severe.

Air quality on Monday remained good to moderate throughout the day. There was no noticeable impact from the smoke, and Tuesday and Wednesday shouldn’t feel much different.

That pales in comparison to the air quality levels reached over the summer, when dozens of people were hospitalized as a result. Air quality alerts were in effect for the entire tri-state area at the time, easily topping 300, which is considered a health advisory where anyone outside without a mask would be affected.

As for summer temperatures, the New York City area will be around 70 degrees, possibly even reaching the 80s on Tuesday, well above normal for this time of year. Additionally, humidity also increases and peaks on Wednesday.

Temperatures will begin to return to normal on Thursday and will return to below 70 degrees on Friday, as rain returns to the region for the first time since the tristate was hit by a deluge last Friday that dumped more five inches in many places.

Temperatures will continue to drop after the rain stops on Saturday or Sunday, as highs could climb back above 50 degrees early next week. But a lot could change between now and then, so stay tuned to Storm Team 4 for the latest forecast details.
