Gallows Corner Flyover: Completionโค Now Expected in Spring 2026
Transport for London (TfL)โข has announced โa revised completion date for the โGallows Corner โคflyover replacement project, now anticipated for spring 2026. The update was โขshared with Havering Council Members and Officers following sustained pressure from the local authority.
Havering Council Leader, Councillor ray Morgon, respondedโ to โthe announcement, stating: “After โmonths of uncertainty and extensive engagementโ -โ including directโ meetings with โคthe Transport Commissioner andโข tfl officers – weโ finally have a โคclearer understanding of the project’s timeline. While it’s encouraging to have this clarity,I amโข deeply disappointed that the junction will not โreopen โbefore Christmas,a significant setback โfor our community.”
Councillor Morgon acknowledged theโฃ widespread disruption โฃcaused by โthe โฃprolonged closure. “Thisโ news will undoubtedlyโ frustrate residentsโค and businesses who have already experienced considerable โฃdifficulties. The closure has impacted โคdaily commutes, local โcommerce, schools,โ emergency service access, and publicโ transport โคnetworks, โฃand has also created delays inโฃ the Council’s other planned roadโ improvements.”
He emphasized the significant impact on the borough,โข adding, “Theโค frustration felt acrossโฃ Havering is palpable and cannot be overstated.”
While recognizing the project’s complexity and โคunforeseen challenges – specifically the engineering difficulties encountered during water main diversionsโ undertaken by โคEssex and Suffolk Water – โขCouncillor Morgon โstressed the Council’s commitment to accountability. “We willโ continue to press TfL andโฃ Essex and Suffolk Water for consistent dialogue and to ensure this new timeline is met. โwe are also actively seeking compensationโ for affected โbusinesses and โคresidents.”
The Council will โcontinue to demand โregular,โ clear updates from TfL and will workโ collaboratively to minimize further disruption.”We expect TfL and Essex and Suffolk Water to โฃprioritize the efficient completion of this vital project,” Councillor Morgon concluded. “Gallows Corner is a crucial link for Havering and East London, and its renewal isโ essential for the safety, reliability, and economic wellbeing of our community.”
