tiktok Enhances Songwriter Visibility with New Features
The popular Chinese social media application, TikTok, has introduced new features designed to help song authors highlight their works. These features, launched as a trial version, include the addition of a “Song Writer” classification and a new section dedicated to showcasing musical creations.
TikTok stated that a select group of publishers, songwriters, and partners have achieved the “Song Writer” classification and access to the Songs Expressing Department. Partners eager to participate in this experience program can sign up for the user waiting list.
The platform announced that it had gathered insights from over 870 songwriters and conducted interviews to understand their requirements for creating personal profiles and generating income through book sales on the platform. Furthermore, an independent survey revealed that more than half of songwriters who utilize social media for promotion use TikTok.
The company, owned by the Chinese technology giant, explained that these survey results were instrumental in the decision to implement these new characteristics. Jordan Louie, head of Global Musical Publishing and Partnership, was quoted by the technology website Tech Crash, stating, “TikTok is distinguished by its ability to give songwriters a way to highlight their musical works alongside their own content, which helps them tell stories about their music, their craftsmanship and their lives, raise their position and attract their audiences on TikTok, as hundreds of thousands do from actually creative artists.”
Although TikTok discontinued its “TikTok Music” service last year, the platform remains a important avenue for users to discover new music and artists to promote their songs. Earlier this year, the company launched the “TikTok for Artists” tool, enabling artists to monitor their performance.
TikTok’s continuous evolution reflects its commitment to supporting creators across various artistic disciplines. By
