FAIRBANKS,Alaska – An $1 million arrest warrant has been issuedโ for โ18-year-old Darius Morgan in connection โคwithโฃ the fatal shootingโข of a 15-year-old boy at aโฃ party in Fairbanks last month.
Alaska State Troopers say Morgan was last seenโฃ in the Fairbanks area in late October โคadn may now be in โAnchorage. Authorities warn theโข public to consider him armed and risky.
A grand juryโข indicted Morgan on Friday, charging him with โคfirst- and second-degree murder.
troopers responded to reports of โgunfire at a Fairbanks residence around โ1:30 a.m.on October 25.Witnesses described the gathering as aโฃ “college party,” and many people fled the scene after shots were fired.
Upon arrival, troopers found โคthe 15-year-old victim deceased outside โคunder a deck, suffering fromโ an apparent โgunshot wound toโ the head. Investigators recovered pistol โmagazines and shell casings at the scene.
Multiple witnesses identified Morgan as โbeing at the party and carrying a handgun. One โwitness reported seeing him tuckโ a black, semi-automatic pistol into his waistband prior to the shooting. Others recognized Morgan and โฃstated he was known to carry a firearm, though none witnessedโ him firing the weapon.
Court records indicate โขMorgan was โconvicted of second-degree โฃrobbery inโ December 2024, prohibiting him from possessing a โfirearm. A separate warrant had previously been issued for third-degree misconduct involving weapons related toโ that conviction.
