PHILADELPHIA (AP) -โ Philadelphia policeโฃ onโค Saturday recovered human โremains in a wooded area during the search for 23-year-oldโ Kada Scott, who has been missing for approximately two weeks. The โremains were โfound behind an abandoned school in a shallow grave, and investigators believe they might potentially โbe Scott’s, though official confirmation awaits analysis by the medical examiner’sโ office.
Theโข revelation comes asโข 21-year-old Keon King remains in custody, charged withโ kidnapping, โคstalking,โ and โขrelated offenses in connection with Scott’s disappearance. King’s case has raised concerns aboutโ the justice system, as heโ was previously released on bail โafter being charged in a similar case earlier this year.Deputy Commissioner John Stanford stated at a news conference that an anonymous โฃtip led police โคback toโค the area, which had been previously searched. “We are not going to confirm, at this point, โฃthat it isโ Kada Scott because that has to be done by the medical examiner’s office,” Stanford said. “There’s โstill a lot of work to be done.” He added that the remains appeared to be those โฃof a woman who had been deceased for โseveral days.
Investigators โhave been in contact with Scott’s family, but further details are being withheld to protect the integrity ofโข the ongoing investigation. As of Sunday, the Philadelphia Police Department and the medical examiner’s office โคhave not released additional updates. King’s bail is set at $2.5 million, and a preliminary hearingโ is scheduled for next month. His defenseโข attorney has โขnot yet commented on the case.
