Nuevo Laredo Mother Survives Multiple Heart Attacks After Childbirth Thanks to State’s Emergency Obstetric Network
Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas – A young mother in Nuevo Laredo is recovering after experiencing several heart attacks following the birth of her baby last Thursday, thanks to the swift intervention of Tamaulipas’ “Code Gold” obstetric emergency response system. The patient, identified as Ariana Cabrera reyes, was rapidly transferred via air ambulance to a high-specialty hospital in the state capital to receive critical care.
The “Code Gold” protocol, overseen by the Regulatory Center for Medical Emergencies (CRUM), is a statewide network designed to monitor high-risk pregnancies and facilitate immediate transfer to appropriate medical facilities. According to Secretary of Health Vicente Joel Hernรกndez Navarro, the program has demonstrably reduced maternal and perinatal mortality rates across Tamaulipas. “The objective is for us to keep in mind that when it comes to a high-risk pregnancy, transfer the patient to the hospital unit immediately,” Hernรกndez Navarro stated, adding that efforts are underway to integrate all pregnant women into the support strategy and ensure effective prenatal care.
The Accompaniment Network in Obstetric Emergency Care is comprised of a multidisciplinary team across all three levels of healthcare, dedicated to identifying and responding to active obstetric emergencies – designated as “Code Gold” – and ensuring timely, adequate patient transfer. Cabrera reyes expressed her gratitude for the rapid medical response, stating it gave her “a second chance at life to be with her little daughter.” The state government highlights the network as a vital component of its commitment to maternal health and reducing preventable deaths related to childbirth.
