denver, CO – James Craig has been sentenced to life in prison for the 2023 murder of his sister, angela Craig, a case that garnered national attention.The conviction followed a trial in Aurora, Colorado, where prosecutors presented evidence that James Craig lethally poisoned his sister’s protein shakes, sinus medicine, and hospital IV.
The sentencing on Wednesday brought a measure of closure to Angela Craig’s brother, who spoke about the intense anticipation leading up to the verdict. “So, up until the very time (Judge Shay Whitaker) read guilty, we didn’t know what was going to happen,” he stated.Upon hearing the guilty verdict, he expressed a sense of relief, noting, “at least he can’t hurt anybody else now. We don’t have to think about him anymore.”
However, he tempered this relief with a somber reflection on the nature of justice in such cases. “No, justice is never served when somebody is murdered. There’s nothing you can do to bring that person back. And all you can do is protect society from the person that murdered her,” he said.
The prosecution, according to pray, presented a clear case, describing the jury’s reaction as one of being “aghast at what he did.” The scheme involved James Craig allegedly attempting to involve his own children in a cover-up. He reportedly tried to have his daughter impersonate her mother to suggest Angela Craig had committed suicide, even providing details on how to stage the scene and use disposable technology.
In contrast to the dark details of the crime, Pray remembered his sister, Angela, as a beacon of positivity.”She was always happy, she was always positive, and she didn’t go through those ridiculous, rebellious teenage years. She was always good.She always lived the gospel.It was always the center of her life,” he recalled.
Angela Craig,43,is survived by her six children,some of whom testified against their father during the trial. Pray acknowledged that the children are still processing the events of this “exhausting nightmare.”
