Kyiv and Moscow Report Drone and Missile Attacks Amidst Ongoing Conflict

Air raid sirens were activated multiple times, first for repeated mig-31K fighter jet takeoffs, and then at 3:50 AM as missiles entered Ukrainian airspace. The missiles traversed the Kharkiv, Poltava, and Chernihiv regions before reaching the Kyiv region. By 4:18 AM, Ukraine’s Air Force reported targets heading towards Kyiv, with explosions heard in the capital at 4:20 AM. Minutes later, at 4:23 AM, the Air Force confirmed the presence of ballistic missiles aimed at Kyiv. early reports from Ukrainska Pravda indicated one fatality and one injury in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Moscow reported its fifth consecutive night of Ukrainian drone attacks. The governor of Rostov Oblast, Yuri Slyusar, stated that drone debris caused a fire at the roof of a railway station in the village of Kamenolomni. Three individuals were evacuated from the control point, and preliminary reports suggest no injuries. The village of Kamenolomni is situated approximately 38 kilometers from the Ukrainian border and about 200 kilometers from Ukrainian-controlled territory. A flower shop also caught fire in Kamenolomni, and drones were reportedly downed over the cities of Novoshakhinsk, Shakhty, and Novocherkassk. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that five drones targeting the Russian capital were intercepted by air defense systems, with two downed over Moscow and two more outside the city. Following the drone activity, Moscow’s Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports temporarily restricted flights, according to a spokesperson for the Russian state aviation agency, Rosaviatia.
Beijing Criticizes EU Sanctions on China
China’s Ministry of Commerce has voiced strong disapproval of new European Union sanctions targeting Chinese entities, which are intended to curb Russia’s armed forces. A statement released by the ministry described the EU’s actions as “incorrect” and contrary to agreements made between Chinese and EU leaders. Beijing asserts that these measures have negatively impacted economic, commercial, and financial cooperation between China and the European Union.
