CORAASAN andโ Supรฉrate address Adolescentโฃ Pregnancy Prevention with Employee Education
SANTIAGO, Dominican Republic – โคThe Santiago Aqueduct and โคSewerโข Corporation โ(CORAASAN), in โคpartnership withโค the Superate Social Development Directorate (DDSS), hosted a training session โfor its employees focused on preventing early unions and adolescent pregnancies. The initiative aims to equip parents within the โCORAASAN workforce โwith the tools โคand knowledge to โคfoster open dialog and provide family counseling.
During the session, Supรฉrate psychologist noely Nuez emphasized โthe critical role ofโ effective parent-child communication in preventing teenage pregnancy, noting that such pregnanciesโ frequently enough leadโ to social vulnerabilities includingโค abortions, premature partnerships, and disruptions in โa young woman’s educational โฃand emotional growth.
Walnut Odalis, โa member ofโ the supรฉrate Psychologists Team, underscored the state’s responsibility to protect the well-being of children and adolescents,โฃ including โraising โawareness about the dangers of early relationships. Odalis referenced Law 136-03, theโข Dominican Republic’sโ system for the โprotection of children and adolescents, which โexplicitly prohibits marriageโ for minors, urging parentsโ to uphold this legal right.
The event included participation from CORAASAN’s Waterโ cultureโค Coordinator,โ Elizabeth Rodrรญguez, head of โฃthe Bella Vistaโ peripheral office; Rossina Abreu, CORAASAN’s Gender Equality Coordinator; and Merlys nuesi, โfieldโ supervisor for Supรฉrate’s norcentral office, among other representatives. โ
