Winter Arrives: Sub-Zero Temperatures and Snow Forecast forโ finland – “never Shouldโ Summer Tires Be Used”
Rovaniemi,Finland – A meaningful โขshiftโค to winter weather is forecast across Finland starting this โweek, with temperatures โplummeting and snow โฃexpected to spread throughout the country, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. While northern regions are bracing for particularly frigid conditions, centralโ and southern Finland will also experience a marked drop in temperatures.
Meteorologist Tuukka Kerรคnen anticipates nighttime temperatures inโ northern finland could reachโฃ between 20โค and 30 degrees below zero Celsius. Daytimeโค highs are expected to remain between 10 and 20 degrees below zero. Central Finlandโ is highly likely to see daytime temperatures around fiveโ degrees below โคzero, while southern Finlandโ will hover around freezing, potentially remaining near โzero during the day and dropping to freezing overnight.
Currently, much of Finland is covered in snow, though coastal and central areas have seen limited accumulation.โ However, snow showers are predictedโ to move southwardโข as the week progresses, potentially bringing heavier snowfall โto Uusimaa and the capital regionโ by mid-week.
“As next week progresses,we could get snow showers in the south,” Kerรคnenโค told STT on Sunday, adding that precise rainfall predictability is “really bad.”
authoritiesโ are urging caution on the roads. “It really looks like winter. Never shouldโ summer โtires be used,” Kerรคnen emphasized. โขNorthern Finland is not expected to experienceโ any rain inโฃ the โขcoming week, and winds areโข forecast to remain weak throughout the beginning of the week after a period of stronger gusts.
