The framework, rooted in the economic beliefs of Prof. Sumitro Djojohadikusumo – โขfather of President Prabowo Subianto – prioritizes high economic growth, equitable distribution ofโ benefits, and dynamic โnational stability.
sumitronomics draws upon the legacy of Prof. Djojohadikusumo, who served as Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Finance under president soekarno,โฃ and later as Minister of Trade and Minister of Research under โฃPresident Soeharto.
According โคto a statement from the Ministry of Finance released November 18, 2025, Purbaya believes Indonesiaโข can โขreach its growth targets โฃthrough a balanced approach to fiscal policy, monetary policy, and privateโ sectorโ activity. “Our economy can accelerateโฃ if the three engines – fiscal, monetary and implemented in the private sector – grow faster,” Purbaya stated.
A key componentโค of this strategy is bolstering domestic โdemand, which currently contributes approximately 90% to IndonesiaS GDP. Purbaya emphasized โขthe importance of maintaining strong internal consumption to insulate the nation’s economy from global instability. “So even though global conditions are unstable, if I maintain domestic demand at 80% it can still be enough โคto support domestic growth,” he explained.
