Parents ofโ Star Tennis Player Levi Braun File Lawsuit Against Alleged DUI Driver
Los Angeles, CA – The parents of levi Braun, a promising teenage tennis player killed in a November 2025 collision, have filed a lawsuit against Jenia Belt, the driver accused of causing the fatal โฃcrash while under the influence โคof alcohol.โข The lawsuit, filed this week, seeks โขdamages for wrongful death and alleges โฃnegligence on Belt’sโค partโ led directly โto โคBraun’s โคdeath.
Braun, 18, was a recent graduate of a Los Angeles Jesuit school and had recently achieved a fourth consecutive tennis victory, winning the Mission League doubles championshipโ with his partner, Cooper Schwartz, just days before the incident. He was set to begin his collegiate tennis career at the โUniversity ofโค Virginia. The lawsuit comes as the community continues to mourn the loss ofโค the young athlete, remembered for โhis skill on the court and his contributions to the school andโข wider community.
The lawsuit details the โฃcircumstances of the November โค19, โ2025, โcrash, alleging Belt was driving under the influenceโ when her vehicle โstruck Braun. โขAuthorities โhave โคstated Belt was arrested โฃat theโฃ scene and faces DUI charges.
Braun was also actively involved in peer support, having helped establish a counseling group for students impacted by the Palisades fire in January 2025, which damaged or destroyed approximately 16,000 structures when combined with the Eaton Fire. The Braun family themselves were displaced by the Palisades fire, having lost โtheir Pacific โPalisades home – valued betweenโค $3.2 million and โ$4.1 million – โขand had recently relocated to Hermosa Beach โขat the time of levi’s death.
“In every way he was remarkable,”โข said Principal Jamal Adams to โ USA Today following Braun’s death. “He was an exceptional student, a killer athlete, one of the best tennis players in our school. He was a humble young man who did a great job highlighting and bringing joy to the โpeople around him,” Adams continued, describing Levi as a “stellar part ofโ the community.”
As of today,it โฃis unclearโ whether Belt has retained legal counsel. The lawsuit seeks to hold Belt accountable for her alleged actions and to provide financial compensation to the Braun family for their loss.
