Filmed entirelyโ in the extreme cold of Kazakhstan, Theโ Ice Route presents a โnew level ofโ difficulty for its eight competing pairs-a reduction from the โขusual ten. โHost Stรฉphane Rotenberg described the conditions โas far harsher than typical alpine cold, stating, “We have the image ofโฃ the cold that we can have while skiing, but this has nothing to doโ with it.” Temperatures ranged from -5ยฐC to -28ยฐC, posing important physical challenges, including the need to breathe โคthrough scarves to avoid burning the palate and โคexperiencing frozen tears. producer โThierryโข Guillaumeโ added, “ItS definitely not the Alps in February.”
