Stephen Curry Confirms 2027 3-Point Contest Participation | NBA All-Star

Los Angeles – Two-time NBA Three-Point Contest champion Stephen Curry announced Saturday he intends to compete in the 2027 contest, setting up a potential rematch with Damian Lillard, who claimed the title this year at the NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.

Curry, who previously won the competition in 2015 and 2021, made the declaration prior to Sunday’s All-Star Game, stating he was “100%” in for next year’s event. The Golden State Warriors guard was named an All-Star starter this season but was sidelined due to injury.

Lillard’s victory on Saturday marked his third Three-Point Contest win, tying him with Larry Bird and Craig Hodges for the most all-time. He achieved the feat while continuing to rehab a torn Achilles, adding to the significance of his accomplishment. Lillard scored 29 points in both rounds of the contest, besting Devin Booker’s 27.

Curry’s decision to return to the contest appears to be directly motivated by Lillard’s win. “I already scheduled it,” Curry said, adding he would attempt to convince teammate Klay Thompson to join them. “We’re going to bring some people—me, Dame and I’ll try to get Klay.”

The 2027 NBA All-Star Weekend is scheduled to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The announcement has already generated excitement among fans and analysts, anticipating a high-profile showdown between two of the league’s most prolific three-point shooters.

Despite being unable to participate in Sunday’s All-Star Game due to his injury, Curry showcased his shooting prowess during pregame festivities, successfully making a shot from the NBC booth after four attempts.

This year’s All-Star Saturday similarly saw Miami Heat forward Keshad Johnson win the Slam Dunk Contest, and a team comprised of Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns and Allan Houston win the Shooting Stars competition. The USA Stars, led by Anthony Edwards, went on to win the All-Star Game on Sunday.
