They are still in a state of war in SYRIZA, where estimates are multiplying and many now agree that the party is on the verge of its biggest split.
What happened in the Central Committee last Saturday, with the departure of the members of the higher governing body who support Stefanos Kasselakis, strengthened the scenarios of a split.
Will Kasselakis be deleted?
Coexistence is impossible, even more so when too many members of the majority wish to remove Stefanos Kasselakis from SYRIZA and thus prevent his candidacy.
And this is a possible scenario, although suicidal for SYRIZA, but it seems that in the logic of the final clarification, its central executives are not interested in the consequences of such a development.
On the other hand, Stefanos Kasselakis, who asked his supporters last Sunday in Heraklion to come to the party’s congress, even from outside the venue, if they don’t come in, he is playing everything for everyone.
The existential problem of SYRIZA and PaSoK
The atmosphere is particularly heavy and the characterizations heard in the background show that there are now too many outsiders in the same party. And it could not be otherwise with what has been heard on both sides, while neither side is willing to pour water on its wine.
It is a war that has the dilemma: either us or them. Except that in the case of SYRIZA, the problem is greater as it has been producing toxicity and hostility for a year, while in PASoK they did an internal party process that only gave them profits and puts them once again at the center of the political game in terms of governability.
However, the concern is intense among MPs and officials who do not enter the arena and consider that there is a serious existential problem for SYRIZA, which is now repelling instead of rallying the citizens and winning them over with its words.
Sink or Dissolve Online? – The movements of “87”
Toxicity crushes any prospect of reconnection. And despite the fact that its most left-wing voters who came from PaSoK did not return to their ancestral political aridity as was shown by last Sunday’s polls, there is still distancing and alienation from SYRIZA as well.
And this is the biggest problem of SYRIZA, whether with Stefanos Kasselakis as president or someone or something else from the side of the 87 who aim to politically neutralize their former “soldier” who, however, shows no inclination to retreat and compromise.
And in a conflict, like the one going on in SYRIZA, when no one gives in and breaks the iceberg that is in the middle to have some kind of compromise, it is almost a given that both will sink. And what is done is sinking or otherwise dissolving online.
