Police to Resume Search for Missing Four-Year-Old Gus in South Australia
South Australian Police (SAPOL) and โคAustralianโ Defence Force (ADF) personnel will recommenceโค teh search for missing four-year-old Gus in theโ stateSโ mid-north tomorrow.
SAPOL announced the renewed search activity will focusโฃ on theโข family’s station, located approximately 43 kilometersโข southโค of Yunta. The expanded searchโ area will โextend beyond zones already thoroughly investigated following Gus’s disappearance onโ Saturday, September โข27th.
While police previouslyโ scaled back the extensive searchโ earlier โฃthis month – describing it as oneโ of the “largest” and “most protracted” undertaken -โฃ they continue to hold out “hope for โฃa miracle.” Last week, drone searches of the familyโค property were conducted.
Police stateโค they have maintained “regular and close engagement” with Gus’s family, who are actively assisting with the ongoing โฃinvestigation.
Gus wasโ last seen playing near the family’s โขisolated homestead around 5pm before his โfamily alerted authorities. Initialโฃ search efforts,โค involvingโฃ hundreds of police,โ volunteers from โขthe State โEmergency Service (SES),โข and community โคmembers, yielded only a single footprint with a boot โpattern “very similar” to those Gus โคwas wearing when he went missing.
Theโฃ initialโค search utilized โฃa tracker, police helicopter, drones, water โoperations teams, police cadets, and ADF personnel.
Followingโ Gus’s disappearance,โ family friendโ Bill Harbison read a statement on behalf โคofโฃ the โfamily.โ “The family was ‘devastated’ โand that they missed him ‘more than words can express’,” Harbison stated. “This has come as a โคshockโ to โour family and friends,โข and weโ are struggling toโฃ comprehend what has happened.”
SAPOL has announced that all future updates regarding the case will be delivered from Adelaide, โrather than โคthe โfamily’s property.
