Utica Man Charged โฃwith Murder in Gas Station Stabbing Death
SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A โ25-year-old Utica man is facing a first-degree murder charge after allegedly stabbing his estranged wife to death Sunday atโข a gas station in shelby Township.The incident occurred during a โขchild custody exchange, authorities said.
Sidney Emmanuel Davis Jr. was arraignedโ Wednesday inโค 41A District Court, according to Macomb County Prosecutorโค Peter J.Lucido.Davis is โขaccusedโ of fatally stabbing Fatme Davis, โ23, โคat โapproximately 5 p.m. at a Meijer gas station located at 15031 Hall Road.
police say the couple’s childโข was โpresent in the mother’s car during the attack โand โis now โฃwith the paternal grandmother. Authorities allege davis repeatedly beatโ and stabbed โFatme Davis inside the gas station. First respondersโข transported her to a โhospital, where she later died from herโข injuries.
“The allegations in this case are both shocking and โdeeply โขdisturbing,” โLucido said in a press release. “A young mother was allegedlyโ killedโฃ at โthe hands of her estrangedโค husband, while their child sat waiting in the car. Our office is committed to pursuing this case to theโ fullest extent of the law toโฃ ensure justice is served.”
Davis initially fled the scene but โwas apprehended โby Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies in Armada Township. He was treated for a severe cut to his hand at a hospital before being taken into custody.
Judge Christopher Alayan denied โคDavis bond and scheduled a probable cause conference for โ1 p.m. on Oct. 7. If convicted, Davis faces life in prison โขwithout the possibility of parole.
