cambridge, England – A swift-thinkingโข elderly man intervened during โa โขmass stabbing on a train near Cambridge, England, on Saturday, Novemberโฃ 2, โ2025, shielding โa young woman from further โattack. The incident left ten people injured,nine โseriously,according to reports.
Eyewitnessโฃ Olly Foster initially dismissed โshouts of “run, run, โฃthere was a manโข stabbing everyone” as aโฃ possible Halloween prank. However, โthe situation rapidly escalated as passengers began pushing โคthrough the train โขcarriages. Foster quickly realized โthe severity of the situation whenโค he saw blood covering the chairโ he was โleaning on.
According to Foster, the older man “blocked” the attacker from harmingโ a younger girl, sustaining woundsโ toโ his head and neck in the process. Passengers then attemptedโค to staunchโฃ the bleeding of โคthe injured using jackets. โLimited to available resources,some passengersโค evenโค considered a โbottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey as a potentialโ defensive weapon,whileโข others โฃprayed the attacker wouldn’tโ enter their carriage.
The ordeal lasted approximatelyโ 10 to 15 minutes, though Foster described โitโ as feeling much longer.
British Transport Police have arrested two suspects and are investigating the incident with assistance from โฃcounter-terrorism police. The motive remains under examination. Senior British Transport Policeโ Officer Chris Casey stated,”Weโ are โคcarrying outโฃ urgent inquiries to find out what โฃhappened,and it may be some time before we provide further โขconfirmationโฆโค at โthis early stage,we โคcannot speculate on the causeโ of the incident.”
British Prime Ministerโ Keir Starmer has called the stabbing a “terrible incident.”
