France Squad Adjusts After South Africa Loss
Mickaël Guillard has been withdrawn from the France squad following saturday’s defeat against South africa, wiht Pierre Bochaton called up as his replacement.
The French team is adjusting its roster after a challenging match against the Springboks at Stade de France. Guillard, who started in the third row, will not rejoin the group as they prepare for their next autumn tour match against Fiji next weekend in Bordeaux.
The French Rugby Federation (FFR) announced Guillard’s absence on Sunday, despite his name remaining on the initial 42-player list released by coach Fabien Galthié. The FFR has not disclosed the reason for the 24-year-old’s withdrawal.
To fill the void, Galthié has recalled Pierre bochaton. The Bordeaux-Bègles third row was previously called up in late October to cover for Lenny Nouchi during the initial autumn tour preparation.
This change in personnel could create an opportunity for Grégory Alldritt. The La rochelle captain was a reserve during the South Africa match, having been released to his club the previous week. Guillard’s absence may allow Alldritt to compete for a starting position and impress the national coach during the remainder of the tour.
