India Day Festival Returns to Wilmington on August 16
WILMINGTON,NC – The Cape Fear Cultural association of India (CFCIA) will host its second annual India Day celebration this Saturday,August 16th,at The Harrelson Center,201 Greenfield St,Wilmington,NC.The event promises a full day of cultural immersion, featuring authentic Indian cuisine, vibrant performances, and interactive activities.
The festival aims to showcase the rich diversity of Indian culture to the Wilmington community and beyond. Founded in 2023, the CFCIA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Indian heritage and fostering understanding through cultural events.
- Food: Attendees can savor a wide variety of regional Indian dishes, alongside customary beverages such as masala chai and mango lassi.
- Entertainment: The day will feature continuous entertainment,including musical performances,classical Indian dance presentations,and energetic Bollywood dance routines. Performances will begin at 11:00 AM and continue throughout the afternoon.
- Cultural Activities: Guests can participate in hands-on activities like Henna painting, Rangoli creation (using colored powder), and workshops exploring Indian spices, cooking techniques, history, and literature. A dedicated learning session on Indian spices will be led by local chef, Priya Sharma, at 2:00 PM.
- Shopping: A selection of brightly colored Indian attire and jewelry will be available for purchase. Vendors will include local businesses like “Indi-Style” and artisans from Raleigh, NC.
Parking & Admission
Parking at The Harrelson Center is limited and free on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional paid parking options are available in nearby public lots and on-street parking. Admission to India Day is $10 per person, wiht children under 12 admitted free. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbrite or at the door.
