Barn fire in Inland Norway Rescues Most Animals, Building Lost
A fire engulfed a barn in the Inland Police District of Norway late Wednesday adn into Thursday, promptingโข a large emergency response and a rescue operation for animals trapped inside. Asโ of 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, operations manager Christian Svarstad confirmed to NTB that most of the animals had been rescued, though some remain โunaccounted for.
The barn is a totalโฃ loss โand will burnโ to the ground, according to interim leadership. Emergencyโ services were alerted to the blaze just before 11:30 p.m.โข Wednesday. While initial reports indicated animals were locked inside, efforts were quickly underway โคto find alternative ways to evacuate them.
“We have got most animals out, but some animals know we have burned inside,” โฃpolice โฃchiefโฃ Mads Westby Aamodt told Hamar Arbeiderblad.โค A veterinarian is on-site assessing the health of the rescued animals.
No injuries to people haveโ been โreported. The cause of the fireโฃ is currently unkown.
