More than 2,000 people demonstrated in Munich on Saturday against Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. First, around 80 people gathered on Europaplatz for a rally under the motto “Remembrance of war victims in Ukraine”. According to a police spokeswoman, another meeting with around 2,000 participants took place on Marienplatz.

Hans Theiss, deputy chairman of the CSU/Free Voters faction, spoke as the city representative at the large demonstration on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Russian attack on Ukraine. As darkness fell, a sign of solidarity with Ukraine and especially with Munich’s twin city Kiev was projected onto the facade of the town hall. “#StandWithUkraine” read there.

Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) had already published a letter on Friday in which he addressed directly to Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of the twin city. “Two years of war. An incredibly sad anniversary that represents the immeasurable suffering that the entire Ukrainian population has been exposed to since then,” wrote Reiter. Solidarity with the people of Kiev is unshakable in the German twin city. “Dear Vitali, all Munich residents and I personally long for nothing more than peace for you and your country,” assured the Mayor of Munich.

Taylor Swift Surprises Fans at Italian Restaurant in Sydney During ‘The Eras Tour’ – Exclusive Details

Sydney (dpa) – Pop superstar Taylor Swift visited an Italian restaurant in the Surry Hills district of Sydney with a friend without prior notice. The singer refused to reserve the entire restaurant and instead mingled with the completely surprised guests in the trattoria “Pellegrino 2000” on Tuesday evening (local time), Australian media reported. The 34-year-old is currently touring Down Under with her globally acclaimed “The Eras Tour”.

Actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter (24), who accompanied Swift on her tour as part of the supporting program, was there. Word spread quickly about the unannounced dinner, wrote the news site News.com.au: “Hoards of Swifties” had gathered in front of the restaurant, eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of the musician. Swift is currently taking a break after three spectacular shows in Melbourne before continuing her tour in Sydney on Friday.

The American artist has been touring since March 2023, and in the summer she will also be coming to Germany for some – already sold out – dates. With her “Eras” tour, Swift attracts millions of fans worldwide and breaks records everywhere. It is her sixth concert tour and she plays both current and older hits. The show lasts over three hours and has a setlist of over 40 songs.

Travis Kelce Regrets Bumping Coach Andy Reid at Super Bowl: “I Can’t Get So Upset”

Kansas City (dpa) – NFL professional Travis Kelce regrets his bump and yelling at his coach Andy Reid at the Super Bowl. “I can’t get so upset that I bump into the coach and throw him off balance and stuff like that,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said on the “New Heights” podcast, which he publishes with his brother Jason Kelce.

During his team’s win against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the 34-year-old stormed towards his coach in a rage and got so close to him that the coach lost his balance for a moment. The scene was triggered by the Chiefs losing the ball at a time in the game when the opponent was better. Kelce was not on the field during the situation and was clearly very upset. After the incident, he was held back by a teammate and pushed away.

“You’ve crossed a line. Looking back, I think there are better ways to deal with it,” his brother commented on the action. “Yeah, I know. I’m a passionate guy. I love Coach Reid. Coach Reid knows how much I love playing for him, how much I love being a product of his coaching career,” Travis Kelce responded. Reid commented humorously on the situation after the Kansas City Chiefs lost 25:22 to the San Francisco 49ers: “He tested my hip.”

Werder Bremen vs FC Cologne: Coach Werner’s Pre-Game Analysis and Team News

Bremen (dpa / lni) – With the prospect of a close game, coach Ole Werner and Werder Bremen go into the duel with relegation-threatened 1. FC Cologne. Werner said before the game on Friday (8:30 p.m./DAZN) that the people of Cologne can feel the breath of fresh air. Looking at the arena in the cathedral city, the 35-year-old said: “An atmospheric stadium that awaits us. We certainly have to be prepared for that too.”

After 21 match days, 1. FC Köln is in 16th place in the table with 16 points. At the beginning of January, Cologne appointed Timo Schultz as their new coach. Since the 4-0 home defeat against Borussia Dortmund, FC have not lost and have taken five points from three games. Cologne have “stabilized,” Werner attested at the press conference on Wednesday, adding: “They have even more speed on the pitch.”

Last season Bremen lost 1:7 in Cologne. However, the bitter defeat has no significance for the duel on Friday, said Werner. “If I start with this now, many people who weren’t there won’t be interested at all. I think it will be similar on the Cologne side too. There were changes there too, a different coach.”

With a win on the Rhine, Werder, who are currently in tenth place with 26 points, could increase their lead over the hosts to 13 points. However, looking at the standings has no particular meaning for Ole Werner at this point in the season: “On the 22nd matchday, the table doesn’t play a big role. Unlike maybe two matchdays before the end, where you can no longer move up if you get the same result the winning goal goes, or conversely another team throws everything forward again.”

Bremen could start in Cologne for the first time with winter newcomer Julián Malatini in the starting line-up. “We know that he is a young player who certainly still has development potential and still has to get used to a lot of things,” said Werner. But the coach also emphasized: “Overall, he’s doing everything well.” The defender moved from the Argentine club Defensa y Justicia to the Bundesliga club Weser in mid-January. He scored one goal in three substitute appearances. In the 3-1 home win over SC Freiburg, the South American scored the final goal in stoppage time.

Werder goes into the duel in Cologne with an extremely tense personnel situation. Three central defenders are out: Amos Pieper, Niklas Stark and Milos Veljkovic. Midfielders Naby Keita (gastrointestinal infection) and Leon Opitz are also unavailable for the floodlit game on Friday evening.

Rose Monday Parades: Politicians’ Satirical Wagon Costumes and Düsseldorf Float Builder’s International Impact

Cologne/Düsseldorf/Mainz (dpa) – The street carnival reaches its climax on Monday with the Rose Monday parades. While the fools had to contend with constant rain on Weiberfastnacht, the weather forecast for Monday is at least a little better: large amounts of rain are not expected, the German Weather Service said.

The politicians of the traffic light coalition can take comfort in the fact that on this day they are finally “larger than life” – larger than life. As slightly swaying cardboard mates, they glide past cheering crowds on the satirical wagon. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) suffers a shipwreck in Mainz as a one-eyed captain with an eye patch, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) behaves like a bull in a china shop in Cologne because she occasionally expresses her opinion to autocrats, and Finance Minister Christian Lindner ( FDP) acts – also in Cologne – as a piggy bank, a perhaps not entirely brand new idea. Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) appears in Mainz as Flying Robert, remembering the character from “Struwwelpeter” because he is losing his grip on the ground with his heating law, while in Cologne he is pushing his party colleague Ricarda Lang on an “arbitrary ride”.

As always, the people of Düsseldorf have not yet revealed their motives. Their float builder, Jacques Tilly, is the best-known German carnival float designer, whose figures are even requested from abroad. His designs have already been carried by demonstrators in Rome and London at rallies against the Catholic Church and Brexit.

Game of Thrones Stars Sophie Turner and Kit Harington to Star in New Horror Film “The Dreadful” Set in 15th Century England

Los Angeles (dpa) – Sophie Turner (27) and Kit Harington (37) starred in all eight seasons of the cult series “Game of Thrones”. Now the British stars are planning their next joint project. As the US industry publication “Deadline.com” reported, Turner and Harington are on board with the planned horror film “The Dreadful”. Director and screenwriter Natasha Kermani (“Lucky”) linked the report and announced the film on Instagram. According to Deadline.com, the scary story is set in England in the 15th century.

In the HBO fantasy saga “Game of Thrones,” which is based on the Middle Ages, several family tribes fought for the “Iron Throne” of the fictional continent of Westeros. Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams played the sisters Sansa and Arya Stark, while Harington played the character Jon Snow. Turner then appeared in the series “The Staircase”, among others, and Harington in the Marvel film “Eternals”. Nothing was initially known about when filming for “The Dreadful” would begin.
