GAZA CITY – Israeli forces โคbombed multiple high-rise buildings in Gaza City on September 6, 2025, following evacuationโ orders issuedโ to โresidents, further intensifying the destructionโ in the โคbesieged โขterritory. The strikes targeted structures in the Zeitoun neighborhood, recently vacated by โisraeli ground forces after weeks of intense โassaults, and other areas โof the city, reducing homes and infrastructure โto rubble.
The escalating violence comes as Palestinians โface impossible choices: remainingโ in โplace and risking death, attempting perilous journeys south, or returning to find their โคlives irrevocably shattered. The destruction in Gaza City underscores the immense โhumanitarian crisis unfolding, with residents reporting complete devastation โคand questioning the โขpossibility of rebuilding after decades of accumulated loss. The attacksโ are occurringโฃ despite the designation of “humanitarian areas,” which Palestinians โฃreport have also been targeted, eroding trust in any safe zones.
Al โคJazeera’s Hind Khoudary, reporting from Deir el-Balah inโ central โคGaza,โ stated that Palestinians โฃdo not trust โคthe so-called humanitarian area as tents in similar zones have โbeen attacked by Israel many times before and nowhere is safe.
Residents returning to Zeitoun have described โคscenes of โutter devastation. “What โwe have built in 50 years was flattenedโข in five days,” saidโ Aqeel Kishko, a resident of gaza City. “Nothing remains standing -โค buildings, roads โขand infrastructure. We โฃare walking not only on ruins but also onโค dead bodies โof our lovedโฃ ones.”
Nohaa Tafish expressed despair over the prospect of rebuilding Gaza City, stating, “What would people return to? There isโฃ nothing to return to.” Ahmed Rihem, whose home was also destroyed, likenedโ the devastation in Zeitounโค to the impact โof a nuclear bomb.
