A large pallet fire drewโ dozens of Dallas โคFire-Rescue units too South Dallas on Tuesday afternoon,sending a plume of โฃorange smokeโ visibleโ for miles. โฃThe fire, located in the 5300 block of Botham โฃJean Boulevard,โ originated near Hiland Dairy‘s Dallas facility.
Firefighters arrived atโ approximately 2:04 p.m. and found numerous pallets ablaze. According to Jason Evans, a spokesperson for Dallas Fire-Rescue, the fire was resolute to have started accidentally when a spark from an incinerator used to destroy old pallets ignited nearby stacks.
Witness Anderson Fisher of South Dallas reported seeingโค smoke rising from a pallet โstack shortlyโค after 2 p.m., quickly followed by flames “spreading everywhere.” fisher observed employees โคof the business attempting to โextinguish the fire while neighbors contacted the fire โขdepartment. “it was absolutely crazy,” Fisher said. “Never seen anything likeโข it.”
Crews contained the fire using ground โlines and drones for aerial assessment.Dozens โขof emergency vehicles, including Dallas fire-Rescue trucks and Dallas policeโข patrol cars, temporarily blocked access toโ the road at its intersection with C.F. Hawn Freeway.By 4 p.m., the fire โwas largely extinguished, with crews remaining on scene to address hot spots.
No structural damage โoccurred, โand no โinjuries were reported. The incident โฃhighlights the fire risk โassociated with โคpallet storage and disposal, โespecially near industrial facilities.
