DJ Akademiks Urges Young Thug to Take Accountability for YSL Indictment’s impact
DJ Akademiks has publicly challenged Young thug to acknowledge the devastating consequences of the YSL RICO case, arguing the rapper should accept responsibility for the “fractured” lives and lengthy sentences resulting from the legal battle. The commentary comes ahead of an anticipated interview with Young Thug, where Akademiks hopes to hear a direct admission of culpability.
Akademiks contends that Young Thug’s continued focus on alleged “rats” within the YSL institution deflects from the core issue: the detrimental impact of the group’s activities. “You may have been a victim of malicious prosecution, but you’re not a victim of the street life that you seem to be obsessed with,” Akademiks stated, as reported by HotNewHipHop.He further emphasized that individuals connected to YSL have received sentences ranging from “50, 60 years,” and that Thug should acknowledge the collective actions of himself and his associates were “detrimental not only to society, but there’s a lot of lives f***ed up.”
The online personality drew a parallel to criticisms he receives regarding violence in Chicago, stating, “Y’all should put the blame on Young Thug for all the death and everything that went bad for all them [people] that got indicted.” Akademiks believes that Thug’s focus on betrayal rather than accountability undermines any potential for public sympathy. He asserts that a willingness to admit wrongdoing is crucial for regaining empathy, suggesting Thug is currently “seeking both” through the upcoming interview.
The YSL RICO case, which began in May 2022, alleges that Young Thug and Gunna founded a criminal street gang responsible for numerous violent crimes. The case remains ongoing, with a trial expected to last well into 2024.
