Toyota Supra Completes First Official Supercars Test with Four-Driver Lineup
Winton, VIC – The Toyota Supra Gen3 Supercar has completed its maiden test at Winton Motor Raceway, with Walkinshaw Andretti United โฃ(WAU) utilizing a four-driver rotation to gather crucial engine data. Theโค test marks a meaningful step in Toyota’sโ return to Supercars competition after a 17-year absence, and signals the beginning of integration efforts โคfor Brad Jones Racing (BJR) into the โnew program.The two-day test saw experienced Supercars drivers Chaz โฃMostert,Warren Luff,Macauley Jones,and Ryan Wood share drivingโค duties,focusing exclusively โคon engine performanceโ and reliability. While no chassis orโค aerodynamicโข tuning wasโข conducted, โWAU team principal Carl Faux expressed satisfaction with the initial โprogress, stating, “Performanceโค of the car’s been very good so far.We haven’tโข missed a beat all day. Happy with that.” The Supra is slated to make its official public debut at the Bathurst 1000 in October.
Luff brings valuable experience with both the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang Gen3โฃ platforms, gained through his drivesโฃ with Team 18 and ride day โขdutiesโฃ with WAU this โขyear.Jones’ participation is part of a broader strategy to incorporate BJR into the Supra program,with the teamโ aiming to have a completed Supra ready by theโข end โof the year,thoโ a specific track โdebut date remains unconfirmed.
