Jakarta, Indonesia – The mother of Indonesian singer Raisa Andriana is displaying remarkable resilience in her battle against cancer, according to her daughter’s sister, Rinaldi Nurpratama. Despite facing meaningful health challenges, she remains persistent to overcome the disease.
Nurpratama detailed his mother’s journey, noting initial improvements following chemotherapy beginning April 29, 2025, and subsequent immunotherapy treatments – a total of eleven. A PET scan on September 11,2025,revealed positive results, with much of the cancer no longer active, though some remained.
However, the mother soon experienced shortness of breath, exacerbated by pre-existing asthma. she underwent a 12th immunotherapy session on September 18, but blood tests indicated complications, leading to hospitalization on September 22 and admission to the hospital’s intensive care unit (HCU).
Three days later, her condition worsened, requiring a ventilator to assist breathing. A bronchoscopy revealed active cancer cells obstructing her airways. Cryosurgery was performed, and she was transferred to Dharmais Hospital on September 25, successfully clearing her airways.
Radiotherapy commenced immediately, though the ventilator remains in place. Nurpratama emphasized his mother’s unwavering spirit throughout the ordeal.
“In 38 years I lived to see Mother, this is the greatest struggle. Mother gamau lost, Mother wanted to win,” nurpratama wrote on Instagram, as reported by AFP on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. “Thank you to all who have prayed for. Sorry for not being able to reply to messages one by one, but all the good prayers and enthusiasm for us and mother.”
He added, “Behind the suffering and pain of the ventilator, we are shown the power and extraordinary strength of the mother. Every day the mother is eager to undergo radiotherapy and medical actions to fight the disease.”
