Genoa rallies Support forโค Gaza: Aid Flotilla Set to Depart
Genoa, Italy – A massive outpouring of support from Genoa and across โItaly has resulted in over 300โข tons of aid collected for Gaza, โaccording to Music for Peace, the association coordinating a humanitarian flotilla. The initiative, described by sources โฃwithinโ the โItalian Ministry as the most significant humanitarian effort Italy has ever organized, is preparing to challenge the ongoing siegeโ ofโ Gaza.
Stefano Rebora, founder โขof Musicโ for Peace, expressed his gratitude, stating,”Itโฃ is a phenomenal responseโฆ โthe best form โof dissent that we can have.” He emphasizedโ the collective โpower of the โmovement, adding,โ “Only if weโฃ are allโฃ together can we make the differenceโ and change the future.”
The collected aid, encompassing basic necessities, originated from โขacross Italy and even internationally. Rebora explained the scale โฃof the support: “Imagine โhow โmanyโข people are behind those โคtonsโฆ 45 tons with us,45,000 people who brought kilo to kilo.”
Three to five boats will depart from Genoa, joining the larger flotilla in Catania on September 4th, with the goal of delivering aid to Gaza. Rebora, โwho has โvisited Gaza as 2009, described the โฃdire conditions, comparing the city’s โsize to Genoa (32km) butโข highlightingโฃ the devastation: “80% of the houses destroyed and five hospitals at 20%.” He added that the โฃarea lacks essential infrastructure,โ including sewerage, water,โ electricity, and adequate food โsupplies.
The โขeffort comes โas a responseโ to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with organizers acknowledging the inherent dangers of attempting to break the siege.
