Mighty Argo Cable Car in idaho Springs Set to Open Early Next Year

Idaho springs is poised to unveil its newest attraction, the Mighty Argo Cable Car, with construction advancing swiftly. The $71 million project, financed privately, aims for an early 2025 launch, possibly even sooner, promising a unique sightseeing experience above the historic Argo Mill.

Concrete foundations for all support towers are complete, and two structures stand near the upper terminal.A Chinook helicopter will airlift the remaining towers into place this summer, likely in July or August, in a spectacle open to public viewing. The gondola will ascend 1.2 miles up the mountain, boasting a vertical rise of 1,300 feet-nearly twice the height of Denver’s tallest building Republic Plaza (714 feet).

Complementing the gondola, the Virginia Canyon Mountain Park is under progress, featuring trails for hiking and mountain biking. Approximately 14 miles of mountain bike trails are already finished, with plans to double that amount, according to Gary Moore, executive director of the Colorado Mountain Bike association. The trail system, temporarily closed for construction, is scheduled to reopen next week.

The upper terminal will house a three-level facility offering a saloon, wine bar, diverse food and beverage options, a terraced amphitheater, and an observation trestle.
