US Ex-Military Pilot Arrested for Training Chinese Pilots

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor February 26, 2026

A former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot has been arrested for allegedly providing training to Chinese military personnel without authorization, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday. Gerald Brown, 65, was taken into custody in Indiana after returning to the United States from China, where he had been since December 2023.

According to the Department of Justice, Brown is accused of conspiring with foreign nationals to offer fighter aircraft training to pilots within the Chinese Air Force, bypassing the necessary licenses from the U.S. State Department. The alleged scheme involved negotiations beginning in August 2023 with Stephen Su Bin, a Chinese national previously convicted in the U.S. In 2016 for a separate espionage-related offense and sentenced to four years in prison.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated on social media, “Big news… the FBI and our partners have arrested a former U.S. Air Force pilot accused of training pilots in the Chinese military.”

Brown served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, holding leadership positions in sensitive units responsible for nuclear weapons delivery systems, leading combat missions, and serving as a fighter pilot and simulator instructor for various aircraft, including fighter and attack planes. He retired from military service in 1996 and subsequently worked as a cargo pilot.

More recently, Brown operated as a U.S. Defense contractor, providing training to American pilots on advanced fighter jets such as the A-10 and F-35. The Justice Department alleges that he traveled to China in December 2023 to begin his training function.

Roman Rozhavsky, an assistant director within the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division, emphasized the severity of the situation. “The Chinese government continues to exploit the expertise of current and former members of the U.S. Armed forces to modernize China’s military capabilities,” Rozhavsky said. “This arrest serves as a warning that the FBI and our partners will not cease in holding accountable anyone who collaborates with our adversaries to jeopardize our military personnel and threaten our national security.”

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro for the District of Columbia stated that Brown, “and anyone who conspires against our Nation” will be held accountable for their actions.

US-Iran Conflict: Rising Tensions and Potential War

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor February 25, 2026
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump, in his State of the Union address Tuesday, accused Iran of pursuing advanced missile technology capable of reaching the American mainland, a claim immediately disputed by Tehran. The escalating rhetoric comes as indirect negotiations between the two nations are set to resume Thursday in Geneva, mediated by Oman, with the aim of de-escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump asserted that Iran is working to rebuild its nuclear program, despite what he claimed were successful U.S. Strikes last year that “obliterated” Iranian nuclear facilities. “We wiped it out and they seek to start all over again. And they’re at this moment again pursuing their sinister ambitions,” Trump stated during his address to a joint session of Congress. He added that his preference is to resolve the issue through diplomacy, but warned he would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading Tehran’s negotiating delegation, departed for Geneva on Wednesday, according to state media. However, Iranian officials have vehemently denied Trump’s allegations regarding both the pursuit of nuclear weapons and the development of long-range missiles. “Whatever accusations they make regarding Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and the number of casualties during the January unrest are merely a repetition of ‘considerable lies’,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, speaking on Wednesday without directly naming Trump.

The claim of Iran developing missiles capable of reaching the U.S. Has been met with skepticism. Geographical realities suggest such a capability is currently beyond Iran’s reach, with over 10,000 kilometers separating Iran from the west coast of the United States. According to a report from the U.S. Congressional Research Service, Iran’s current missile arsenal is limited to short- and intermediate-range systems with a maximum range of 3,000 kilometers.

Despite the denial from Tehran, Trump reiterated his concerns, stating, “They have been developing missiles that can threaten Europe and our bases abroad, and they are working to build missiles that will soon be able to reach the United States.”

The U.S. Has been increasing its military presence in the Middle East in recent weeks, deploying both the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, to the region. The Gerald R. Ford arrived at the U.S. Naval base in Souda Bay, Greece, earlier this week.

Simultaneously, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commenced military exercises along its southern coast in the Persian Gulf, reportedly involving drones, naval vessels, amphibious vehicles, and various missile systems. IRGC commander Mohammad Karami stated the exercises were conducted “based on existing threats,” without elaborating further.

Araghchi, in a recent social media post, reaffirmed Iran’s position, stating, “Our fundamental belief is very clear: Iran, under any circumstances, will never develop a nuclear weapon.” The upcoming negotiations in Geneva represent a critical juncture in efforts to prevent further escalation between Washington and Tehran.

El Mencho: Death of Mexico’s Top Drug Lord Sparks Violence & Travel Warnings

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor February 23, 2026
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” the leader of Mexico’s Jalisco Modern Generation Cartel (CJNG), was killed Sunday in a military operation, Mexican authorities confirmed Monday. The 59-year-ancient drug lord died after being wounded in clashes with the army in the town of Tapalpa, in Jalisco state, while being transported to Mexico City, according to the Mexican defense ministry.

Oseguera’s death marks a significant blow to one of Mexico’s most powerful and violent criminal organizations. The CJNG, under his leadership, had become notorious for its brazen attacks on Mexican officials and its growing involvement in the trafficking of fentanyl into the United States. The U.S. State Department had offered a $15 million reward for information leading to his capture.

Born in Aguililla, Michoacán, Oseguera initially emigrated to the United States, where he was arrested and deported on drug charges on multiple occasions, including stints in California prisons in the 1980s, and 1990s. Upon his return to Mexico, he rose through the ranks of the Milenio Cartel before eventually forming the CJNG.

The CJNG distinguished itself through its aggressive tactics and expansion across Mexico, operating in at least 28 of the country’s 32 states, according to Insight Crime. The cartel has been known for its use of sophisticated weaponry, including rocket launchers and drones, and has even manufactured its own arms. In 2020, the CJNG launched an unprecedented attack on the then-head of Mexico City’s police, Omar Garcia Harfuch, wounding him and killing three others.

Following Oseguera’s death, CJNG members retaliated by blocking more than 20 roads in western Jalisco, including in Tapalpa, with burning vehicles. Violence spread to other states, prompting the U.S. State Department to issue a shelter-in-place warning for U.S. Citizens in Jalisco, Tamaulipas, Michoacán, Guerrero, and Nuevo León. The warning urged citizens to remain secure until further notice due to ongoing security operations and related criminal activity.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo urged citizens to remain calm, stating that activities were proceeding normally in most parts of the country. The government is coordinating with state authorities to address the fallout from Oseguera’s death.

Oseguera’s son, Rubén Oseguera González, known as “El Menchito,” was sentenced to life in prison in the United States last year on drug and weapons charges. Oseguera’s former wife, Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia, was released from prison last year after serving time for suspicious payments linked to a car wash she owned; her current whereabouts are unknown.

Jose Reveles, a journalist specializing in drug trafficking, described Oseguera as having a “violent nature” and a willingness to challenge all levels of government, a characteristic that set him apart from other cartel leaders who often employ violence more defensively.

The U.S. Department of State designated the CJNG as a terrorist organization last year, citing its involvement in fentanyl trafficking, migrant smuggling, extortion, oil and mineral theft, and arms dealing.

Malaysia Family Found Dead: Suspected Murder-Suicide in Kuantan

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor February 17, 2026
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Five family members, including two young girls aged three and four, were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide at a home in Lorong Cerating Damai, Kuantan, Malaysia, on Tuesday morning.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman confirmed the incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. Local time. The victims include the two girls, their parents, aged 32 and 28, and their 55-year-old grandmother, according to statements released by police.

Authorities discovered the bodies of the husband, wife, and children in a bedroom, whereas the grandmother was found in the kitchen of the single-story terraced house. Initial investigations suggest the 32-year-old man used a sharp weapon, believed to be a knife, to inflict injuries on his wife, mother, and two daughters before taking his own life.

“There were victims with visible injuries,” Yahaya Othman told reporters at the scene. The incident was discovered by the suspect’s 15-year-old brother, who was present in the house and immediately alerted authorities.

Police revealed the man had returned to his family home approximately one month ago after resigning from a job in Selangor. He had only begun employment in Kuantan a week prior to the incident. The motive for the killings remains under investigation.

As of 11:35 a.m. Local time, forensic personnel were still processing the scene, and the bodies had not been removed from the residence. Investigations are ongoing, and police have not released further details regarding potential contributing factors or a timeline of events leading up to the tragedy.
