Tourรฉ Challenges Allegations Following โคSonko‘s Public โRemarks
Prime โMinister โOusmane Sonko recently broughtโค renewed attention to โa 2 billionโ FCFA embezzlement allegation during a rally at the Lรฉopold Sรฉdar Senghor stadium โon Novemberโ 8th.โข Speaking toโฃ supporters, Sonko referenced an IGEโค (State General โฃInspectorate) report implicating “allies of power,” specifically naming Aminata tourรฉ, the current High Representative of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. he stated he hadโ informed the Presidentโค of the republic about the report.
Though,โข theseโ accusations are not โขnew,โข and Aminata Tourรฉ has previously and forcefully refuted them. As early as 2024, she publicly denounced the โclaims as โค”political manipulation” designed to damage her reputation. “I am denouncingโค totallyโฃ false information with the sole aim of undermining my reputation. I’mโข not afraid of this report. If we follow the law, โno magistrate can prosecute me for anything,” tourรฉ stated at the time.
In a move described as unprecedented, Tourรฉ challenged the IGE to a public accounting. She called for aโข collective hearing,โ open to โthe press and public, involving herself and the two individuals who preceded and succeeded her as president of the Economic, Social and Environmental โCouncil (CESE).”Iโข request that all reports be declassified. โEveryone would come with their accounting documents, in complete clarity, in front of โขthe Senegalese,” she proposed.
