Viktor Lodin could have received a match penalty: “I thought it” | SHL

The qualifying game between team 13 and team 14 in this year’s SHL is underway.

It’s nerves, and important decisions that have to be made.

Viktor Lodin, who made a comeback during the evening after an injury absence for some time, ended up in the center of events immediately.

First, he scored the first goal of the qualifying game to make it 1-0 for Oskarshamn after five minutes.

A couple of minutes later, he came into focus for a completely different reason. He tackled HV forward Victor Sjöholm, and referees Mikael Holm and Linus Öhlund chose to review the expulsion. But came to the conclusion that it would be two minutes for a charging.

– It poked his head and he jumped into the situation. But if the judges think it’s a second, it’s a second as well, says Victor Sjöholm after the match.

Do you have any but from the tackle?

– No, I was a bit lucky. The tackle just took his head lightly.

Lodin about the tackle

Viktor Lodin admits in TV4’s broadcast that he thought it would be a bigger punishment.

– I thought I would get a match penalty, so it was nice that it didn’t happen that way, he says.

After the match, he develops his view of the situation.

– It goes fast out there. He is slightly bent over the edge. I lift the skates a little. Of course you were a little worried, but the judges know best, so it was nice that it was only a second. Then I hope it’s okay with him, because I’m never looking to hurt anyone, says Lodin to Expressen.

Are you jumping in?

– I do not really know. Comes at high speed, and you have a lot of adrenaline at the beginning of a match. Sometimes it goes wrong, hope it’s calm.

Wikegård’s criticism and the judge’s response

Tommi Tikka, who also received a high club shortly after the situation with Sjöholm, was seen to be patched up on the bench by HV doctor Jonas Kalman, but was able to play on.

TV4 expert Niklas Wikegård was also surprised that the judges chose another way out than two minutes.

– I think he jumps. Oskarshamn and Lodin are lucky there. It’s definitely an ugly tackle, I think, says Wikegård in the broadcast.

One of the two main judges, Linus Öhlund, also gives his view on the matter.

– I see that Lodin is taking his skates off the ice. Then I was initially a little unsure whether the initial contact was to the head. But the biggest force was against the shoulder so therefore we take a second, charging. We can take bigger penalties but we judged this as a second, he says.

Timrå IK’s Sebastian Hartmann had to be taken by ambulance to hospital during the match against Växjö.

The forward got a skate over the lower leg in a duel with Brian Cooper.

– You get shivers when you see it, because you see the seriousness. I hope things go well for Sebastian, said Staffan Kronwall in TV4’s studio.

– I can’t really let it go, I find it hard to watch.

The message from the club

Hartmann was treated on the ice before he could then be carried out on a stretcher.

They then chose to cancel the first period with four minutes left on the clock.

– I can confirm that Hartmann was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Out of consideration for Sebastian’s integrity, we will not make any further comments at this time, says Timrå IK’s team doctor Christian Rydin to Expressen.

Brian Cooper, who was the opponent involved in the situation, helped Hartmann before he

– It was quite crazy. We were just in a normal melee, just like every puck duel, says the defender about the situation.

– I only saw that there were a few drops of blood that came on the ice and thought at first that maybe he had a nosebleed or something, but then he collapsed when he was about to step up and I only then saw that there was a large pool of blood and stain on the back of his bone.

He himself has not seen any pictures of the incident afterwards, but says that he was reached by reassuring news.

– I just tried to help him to the people who were closest, so he could get treatment. The medical team did a great job and I was told afterwards that he is fine.

How did it feel to you?

– It was a small relief. I felt terrible, because you don’t want to hurt anyone. But I’m glad he seems to be doing well, says Brian Cooper.

Hockey Match between Södertälje and Djurgården Interrupted by Pyrotechnics: Consequences and Game Highlights

Hockey Match between Södertälje and Djurgården Interrupted by Pyrotechnics: Consequences and Game Highlights

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 24, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

A well-filled Scaniarinken had loaded up for a hockey party between Södertälje and Djurgården.

But the party took off immediately. Even before it even started.

The players wandered out into the dressing rooms. From the stands, pyrotechnics could be seen flashing – which caused the match to be interrupted.

– I am saddened. I’m sorry, really. I think that a hockey match like this between two good hockey teams that are good at racing should be covered by what happens on the ice. Now here we are again, I don’t know for what time in the order. People pay to be there and see their team and then we have this crap again, said Fredrik Söderström in TV4’s studio.

The warning before the match: “Parting of the ways”

Before tonight’s match, Södertälje’s club director Robert Andersson issued a warning in an interview with The county newspaper.

This after the last time the teams met in Scaniarink on 24 November. Then the entire arena had to be evacuated after pyrotechnics from the stands.

– We are coming to a crossroads now, he told the newspaper.

– Not allowing away fans was something that was discussed for a long time to reduce the risk of fights. In the discussions, we have been in a situation where we felt that we cannot have away supporters and were close to sending in a waiver not to have it, to wanting to do everything we can to make it work, said Robert Andersson at the time.

“A big concern right now”

During Friday, the same thing happened again.

In TV4’s studio, Fredrik Söderström said that he lacks communication and that it is too quiet from the league – the hockey Allsvenskan.

– I want to know, what will be the consequences when you do this? Figure out a way to take this further, because this is getting unsustainable. This degrades the sport of hockey, the experience on site or watching on TV, said Söderström.

There is a possibility that third-placed Södertälje and fourth-placed Djurgården will meet each other in a playoff. Something that will mean that the team’s supporters meet again.

– The probability is quite high that these are teams that run at each other in a playoff. Where the games are played close, it’s every other day, it can be long games in extra time as well. This is a dilemma and a big concern right now that above all the hockey Allsvenskan has.

Two goals in 36 seconds

After about ten minutes, the match could be resumed – without the crowd needing to evacuate the Scaniarink. The first period ended goalless.

The second period would be all the hotter. And that in just 36 seconds.

6:33 into the period, Djurgården’s Olle Liss scored his fourteenth goal of the season.

Just 36 seconds later, Södertälje answered.

Miikka Pitkänen, who was recruited by Södertälje under the winter window, pricks in kvitteringen and crosses behind goalkeeper Viktor André.

Krupic eller Harlest?

6:37 into the third period, the guests’ Linus Klasen was sent off. It was costly – because in the power play Amil Krupic scored 2-1 for Södertälje.

Whether Krupic was last on the puck, however, is not certain.

– Hampus (Harlestam) came forward and said the puck touched him. It felt like it was me who scored the goal in any case, says Krupic to TV4.

Despite massive forcing in the final minutes, Djurgården could not find an equaliser.

Södertälje finally won the summit with 2–1 and thus advances to second place in the table. Djurgården is fifth with five rounds remaining in the regular season.

Patrik Laine fights back against the statement: “It’s not okay” | NHL

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 14, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

“After careful consideration and discussions with those close to me, I have realized the importance of prioritizing my mental health and well-being”.

That’s what NHL star Patrik Laine wrote on Instagram two weeks ago, shortly after his club Columbus Blue Jackets announced that the 25-year-old will be off the ice indefinitely.

The Finn has been enrolled in the NHL’s support program.

– The only thing we care about is his well-being, said Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen.

The Finnish superstar, who was drafted second in 2016, has since received support and well wishes from all corners.

But now he himself has gone out and put his foot down.

This is after the podcast B&B Round Table, which is run by supporters of the Columbus Blue Jackets, discussed the state of their own player’s health and suggested that he should be suicidal.

Patrik Laine’s response after the joke

In a clip that is spreading on social media, several people in the pod studio can be seen having difficulty holding back laughter after the claim.

Laine himself has commented on the mentioned incident on X.

“This is simply not okay,” he writes.

And he gets the support of many.

“This is pure dung, Patrik. Wish you the best. Take the time you need and do what is best for you and your family,” writes hockey reporter Chris Johnston.

“We stand firm in our condemnation of this type of language and continue to advocate for mental illness awareness,” writes Laine’s own agent agency Octagon Hockey.

One of those who participated in the episode has now announced that she will not be returning to the podcast.

“Hey all. I was on a podcast last night where there was a joke that I didn’t understand. That’s why I didn’t laugh. Today I was told that it was a suicide joke. Suicide is no joke,” she signs X.

Anton Olsson Joins AIK Hockey, Creates Buzz Among Allsvenskan Teams

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 13, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

AIK Hockey is getting a real fighting position in the Allsvenskan hockey regular season.

Now the team has finished with a back in the form of 21-year-old Anton Olsson.

He has an expiring contract with Skellefteå AIK, but the competition has become murderous in Västerbotten, since Frans Haara was promoted permanently and when the contract expires they had no ambition to extend. This has therefore caused Anton Olsson to move from there already now.

According to information to Expressen, there has been a bit of a fight about him between the Allsvenskan top teams.

AIK Hockey’s rival Djurgården was also interested, but it will be AIK that seizes the Buffalo-drafted defender in the form of a loan.

Seen at Arlanda with Niklas Persson

Already on Tuesday evening, Anton Olsson flew down to Stockholm.

According to Expressen’s sources, he was seen together with Niklas Persson, AIK’s sports director at Arlanda during the evening.

If everything goes as it should, he will be ready to play already for the upcoming match against Västervik. If it doesn’t work out in time, the first match in the derby will be against Djurgården on Friday.

Anton Olsson will thus be reunited with his former coach Anton Blomqvist who had him in Malmö’s junior team.

Olsson will now be loaned by AIK. Skellefteå has the right to call him back at one point if there are problems with injuries.
