Buenos Aires – Argentine actress Juana Repetto announced the birth of her third child, Timoteo, on Wednesday, February 12th, sharing the news and a photo of the newborn on her Instagram account. The arrival of her son, co-parented with former husband Sebastián Graviotto, has been shadowed by public scrutiny regarding Graviotto’s absence from the delivery due to professional commitments abroad.
Repetto detailed in a prior post that Graviotto was unavailable to be present for the birth as he was working as a snowboarding instructor outside of Argentina. While Graviotto acknowledged the birth with a post on his own Instagram account featuring John Lennon’s song “Beautiful Boy” alongside images of falling snow, the gesture has done little to quell criticism from social media users.
Comments directed at Graviotto’s recent posts have questioned his prioritization of work over the birth of his child. Users expressed disappointment, with some stating that professional opportunities are recurring while the birth of a child is a singular event, according to screenshots circulating online. Others levied harsher criticism, accusing him of parental absence.
The song chosen by Graviotto, “Beautiful Boy,” is known for its themes of unconditional paternal love and a father’s desire to be present in his son’s life. The selection was interpreted by some as a symbolic expression of his feelings despite the physical distance.
Timoteo is the second child for Repetto and Graviotto. The couple, while no longer together, share a prior son. Graviotto has not publicly responded to the online criticism as of Friday, February 13th. The controversy continues to unfold on social media, with users continuing to debate the balance between professional obligations and familial responsibilities.
