Scrubs Reboot: Reviews, Ratings & Is It Worth Watching?

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 27, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

The tenth season of the medical comedy Scrubs premiered on ABC in the United States on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 and became available to stream on Disney+ in the UK the following day, February 26, according to reports from Radio Times and The Journal.

The revival brings back original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke, reprising their roles as J.D., Turk, and Elliot, respectively. Bill Lawrence, the creator of the original series, as well returns for the reboot. The new season features the original trio mentoring a fresh cohort of doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital, as detailed by The Ringer.

Early reactions to the reboot have been mixed, with critics noting a deliberate effort to recapture the tone of the display’s earlier seasons. The Ringer reported that Chalke recounted experiencing familiar on-set pranks from Braff and Faison, mirroring the dynamic that characterized the original run of the series. Specifically, the actors recreated a high-pitched whine used to playfully disrupt Chalke during filming, a practice that occurred frequently during the show’s initial broadcast.

The season consists of nine episodes, a shorter run than many of the earlier seasons of the show, as noted by Radio Times. The release schedule is weekly, with new episodes debuting on ABC in the US on Wednesdays and on Disney+ in the UK on Thursdays. Episode 3 is scheduled for release on Wednesday, March 4 in the US and Thursday, March 5 in the UK.

The return of Scrubs has been discussed for years, with the revival finally materializing after initial announcements in July of the previous year and a trailer release in November, according to The Journal. The series aims to balance humor and heartfelt moments while navigating the evolving landscape of modern medicine.

Scrubs Revival: Bill Lawrence Brings Back Sacred Heart to Disney+

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 15, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

The medical comedy series Scrubs is returning to television with a tenth season, set to premiere on Disney+ on February 26, according to reports from New Zealand Listener and multiple US news outlets.

Zach Braff will reprise his role as John “JD” Dorian, alongside Donald Faison as Christopher Turk and Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid. The revival, officially designated as season 10, will also feature guest appearances from other original cast members. New additions to the cast include Vanessa Bayer, Jacob Dudman, and stand-up comedian Ava Bunn.

The series, created by Bill Lawrence, originally aired for nine seasons and concluded in 2010. Lawrence, who also produced and directed the show, had long discussed a potential revival. He described the impetus for the new season as stemming from the strong bonds formed between the cast and crew during the original run. “It’s that we’re all friends, and we enjoy spending time together, and you can’t meet a writer or an actor or a crew member on that show who didn’t count that as one of the highlights of their career,” Lawrence told Variety. “And so all of us were like, even if it’s just that, why not do it again?”

Production of the revival has faced some challenges, including the departure of showrunner Tim Hobert due to “creative differences.” Lawrence himself is unable to serve as showrunner due to existing production commitments. Despite these hurdles, the show is moving forward, with the narrative picking up with JD and Turk back at Sacred Heart Hospital. The ninth season, which introduced a new group of interns, is not being acknowledged as canon in the revival.

The new season will debut in the United States before becoming available to New Zealand audiences on Disney+.

Scrubs Revival: Trailer, Cast & Premiere Date for ABC Series

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor February 11, 2026
written by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

The doctors are back in. Fifteen years after its original run concluded, the beloved medical comedy Scrubs returns to ABC on February 25th with a two-episode premiere, bringing back Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke to the halls of Sacred Heart Hospital.

A newly released trailer for the revival series reveals that J.D. And Turk, portrayed by Braff and Faison respectively, are once again navigating the chaotic world of medicine, this time alongside a fresh class of interns. The trailer, set to Britney Spears’ “Gimme More,” showcases the signature blend of slapstick humor and heartfelt moments that defined the original series. However, the new interns appear to be particularly accident-prone, with scenes depicting mishaps such as unsteady hands during procedures and accidental arterial nicks.

Joining Braff, Faison, and Chalke are original cast members Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley, reprising their roles as Carla and Dr. Perry Cox in guest appearances. The revival as well introduces a new ensemble of actors, including Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Phill Lewis, Robert Maschio, X Mayo, Layla Mohammadi, Amanda Morrow, and Michael James Scott.

The return of Scrubs has been years in the making. Creator Bill Lawrence previously expressed regret over the direction of the show’s ninth season, which he felt functioned more as a spin-off than a continuation of the original series. Braff echoed this sentiment last year, telling Esquire that many fans consider the ninth season non-canonical. Lawrence had hoped to title the spin-off Scrubs: Med School.

Braff, who hosted a Scrubs rewatch podcast beginning in 2020, described the decision to revive the series as “a no-brainer.” He noted that logistical challenges, including aligning the schedules of cast and crew and navigating contractual obligations with Warner Bros., delayed the project for years. “I thought we might do a little miniseries kind of thing, like Psych has done,” Braff said. “I never imagined it was going to be like, ‘No, you’re back at 8 p.m. Prime time on ABC, with Hulu the next day.’ That shocked all of us.”

The Scrubs revival joins a growing trend of sitcom reboots and revivals in recent years. Shows like Fuller House, Roseanne/The Conners, Will and Grace, Night Court, and Girl Meets World have all seen renewed life on television, with varying degrees of success. Other revivals, such as Mad About You, Murphy Brown, and BH90210, were short-lived. The revival of King of the Hill has taken a unique approach, allowing time to pass within the show’s universe, while Beavis and Butt-head utilized a time-travel narrative to bring the characters into the present day.

The first season of the Scrubs revival will premiere February 25 on ABC and will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
