Lymphoma โคImpacts 7,000 Thais Annually, โRanking โAmong Top Five Cancers in Men
BANGKOK – โlymphoma affects approximately 7,000 individuals in Thailand each year and is โขrecognized as oneโข of the five most commonlyโ diagnosed cancers in males, โaccording to recentโฃ data. A new initiative aims to raise awareness, โฃprovide support, andโฃ highlight advancements in treatment for the disease.
The โcampaign features patient stories like “pin-Chan Kaew,”โข a 35-year-old who faced a โขHodgkinโค lymphoma diagnosis at stage 4, with the cancer spreading toโ his lungs,โ liver, spleen, andโข bone marrow. Despite undergoing intense chemotherapy and experiencing two near-fatalโ setbacks, Kaew persevered with treatment, including a stem cell โtransplant. Now, two yearsโฃ post-transplant, heโฃ has returned to a โคfull life, including competingโ in events, โฃstating, “Proud to do” and hoping toโ inspire others. His experience underscores the message โขthat “lymphoma is treated, can beโ cured,” when detectedโข and treated promptly with strong support.
The initiative includesโ in-depth discussions with medical โexpertsโฃ on innovative โtreatmentโ approaches, a screening of the short film “The Lightโฃ Within,” โwhich chronicles a patient’s journey from diagnosis to โฃhope, and โฃcharitable activities. Artist โขMiki-Pornthisit Kaew is โคparticipating in the “Growing Toteโ Bag” project, a collaboration with โartmeesri, withโ proceeds benefiting theโ “Line โคCancer Club โyellow of Thailand.” A TikTok challenge, “Lymphoma Challenge,” also encouraged creative video submissions to โคraise disease awareness.
