Universityโฃ of โขScranton Health Professions โOrganization Welcomes Newโ Director, Hosts Openโค House
SCRANTON, PA – โTeh University of Scranton’s Health Professions Organization (HPO) โขrecently hosted an Open House to introduce its new โprogram director, Dr. Anthony Ferentino.The event allowed prospectiveโค and current students to meet Dr. Ferentino and learnโ about the comprehensive support services offered by the University’sโค officeโค of health professions, located within the Institute ofโ Molecular Biology and Medicineโฃ building.
Dr. Ferentino brings extensive experience to โคthe role, previously serving โคas director of the Center forโค Learning Excellence at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and as an assistant โคprofessorโข of medical education at Geisinger.he โฃalso taught anatomy and โฃphysiology as an adjunct professor at โคThe University of Scrantonโ for sevenโฃ years and practiced for 22 years โas a chiropractic physician in Pittston.
The HPO supports students pursuing a variety ofโฃ healthโข careers, including pre-medicine, pre-dental, pre-physician โassistant, pre-optometry,โค pre-pharmacy, andโ pre-veterinary studies. Services range fromโ academic guidance to submission assistance, bolstered byโ weeklyโข meetings and resources provided by the student-led HPO.โ
“Our officeโข helps โand supports all of our pre-medical and pre-health studentsโฆWe help them navigateโ fromโ academics all the way through their โapplication process,” Dr. Ferentino stated. He expressed enthusiasm for his newโค position, adding, “Its been wonderful and I’m grateful to be hear. Iโ have great visions and hope โคfor what I can contribute andโ achieve in this role – to support our students and make โitโฃ even stronger than it already is.”โ
This year’s HPO officers are: William Wine (President),โ Drew Mauriello and โDavid Banko (Co-Vice Presidents of Presentations), Nicole Baker (Treasurer), Sophia Vanesko (Secretary),โ Matthew Jasienski (serviceโ Chair), and Emily Cosklo (Juniorโ Liaison).
