Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the cast of Matt Reeves‘ The Batman Part II, possibly reuniting with Robert Pattinson in the upcoming sequel.
If a deal closes, Johansson would join Pattinson, who is set to reprise his role as the Caped Crusader in the Warner Bros.-DC Studios film. Details regarding Johansson’s character remain undisclosed, with plot specifics closely guarded. The film is slated to begin production in the spring and is scheduled for theatrical release on October 1, 2027.
The casting news comes as Johansson navigates a busy schedule following her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is currently preparing for the 2026 shoot of a new Exorcist film directed by Mike Flanagan for Blumhouse,a project her team at CAA has successfully integrated with the Batman sequel’s timeline. Johansson recently launched the relaunched Jurassic World franchise with Jurassic World: Rebirth, which grossed $868 million worldwide and has a sequel in development.
Reeves’ The Batman, released after Warner Bros. shifted away from day-and-date HBO Max releases, earned $369.3 million domestically and $772 million globally. Johansson recently made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and will next appear in James Grey’s Paper Tiger alongside Miles Teller and Adam driver.
