Pinar del Rรญo, Cuba – A working โคmeeting focused on collections and payments within Cuba’s agricultural system revealed critical concerns among cooperative โขleaders regarding delayed delivery of essential resources for the current โCold Campaign, potentiallyโฃ impactingโค food production โคtargets.
The meeting, attended primarilyโ by cooperative presidents,โ centered on theโ current stateโค of productive structures and โคcompanies. Attendees voiced anxieties overโ the lack of fertilizers and fuel, resources vital for ongoing agricultural โefforts. Sergio Enrique Moreno linares, Transportation specialist at the Agriculture Delegation in Pinar del Rรญo, stated that “more than 20 hectares of tomatoes are planted withoutโค the first fertilization, which will affectโข the productive yields and contributions in terms of โthis vegetable,” adding a call for “seriousness and the necessaryโค objectivity” in plantingโ and contracting โคproduction โdespite the uncertainty.
Debate also focused โon non-compliance with meat and milk quotas. Celso Rodrรญguez Rodrรญguez, president of the CCS Andrรฉs Chongo Contreras, โคemphasized the importance of contracts as a foundationโค for economic relationships โฃand reliable payment systems for producers โคthrough both Commerce โand โthe Dairy Industry.โฃ Participants agreedโ on the need for improved processes to prevent future shortfalls.
