SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Sharks suffered a 5-4 shootout loss to the Detroit Red wings on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at SAP Centre. Despite a strong offensive showing, the Sharks were unable to secure the win, falling to a 7-6-1 record for the season.
the defeat comes as the Sharks continue to navigate an early-season stretch of games with key players facing injury concerns. Forward William Eklund was given a night off in hopes of allowing him to recover, with the team utilizing a team day off on Monday to further aid his rest. His status for Tuesday’s practice and the upcoming game against the Seattle Kraken remains uncertain.
Rookie defenseman Sam Dickinson scored his first NHL goal during the game, a milestone moment for the young player. Detroit’s Dylan larkin scored the decisive shootout goal. Cam Talbot made 34 saves for the Red Wings, while alex Nedeljkovic stopped 36 shots for the Sharks.
