Erie Native Jesse Luketa Lands with Los Angeles Rams ⁣after Cardinals Release

Los Angeles, CA – Former Mercyhurst Prep football standout Jesse Luketa has signed with the Los‍ Angeles Rams, the team announced⁣ november 18. The move comes after ‌Luketa was released by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this year ‍following a thigh injury that concluded his 2024 season.

luketa, a 26-year-old linebacker and a 2018 Erie First ‍christian graduate, spent three⁢ seasons with Arizona, recording 35 tackles – including three quarterback ⁤sacks – and forcing ‌a fumble over 31 games. His release ⁤followed recovery from the December injury, opening the door for a new prospect ⁤within the NFC West division.

The Ottawa, Ontario⁢ native is initially projected to⁤ join the Rams’ practice‌ squad, but could see action as early as September 23 when Los Angeles hosts ⁤the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Luketa could also face his ⁢former team twice before the end of the regular season, with Rams-Cardinals matchups scheduled for December 7 in Arizona and January 4, 2026, in Los Angeles.

Luketa’s time with the ⁢Cardinals also overlapped ⁣with ⁢McDowell graduate James Conner, whose ninth NFL season was cut⁤ short by a foot injury sustained during a September⁣ 21 game against⁤ the San Francisco 49ers.Conner is scheduled to undergo foot surgery, according to reports.

49ers Lose to Rams in Dominating 42-26 Victory

by Emma Walker – News Editor November 10, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

49ers Suffer Lopsided Defeat to Rams, Falling to 6-4

INGLEWOOD, CA – November 9, 2025 – The San⁣ Francisco 49ers were thoroughly outplayed by the Los⁢ Angeles Rams on Sunday, losing 42-26 and dropping to 6-4 on the season.⁣ The defeat highlights growing concerns‌ for the Niners, who now trail‍ the Seattle Seahawks and Rams in the NFC west standings. los Angeles⁢ dominated the game, racking up 401 yards of offense while ⁣committing zero penalties – a stark contrast to San Francisco’s seven. The Rams also won the turnover battle 2-0.

Despite the loss, several 49ers players delivered strong performances. Running back brian Robinson had a positive outing, scoring a touchdown and‍ surpassing Christian McCaffrey in⁣ rushing yards. The offensive line also impressed against a formidable ⁤Rams ⁤defensive front, and ⁤tight end George Kittle was a ⁢consistent target, finishing ⁤with nine catches for 84 yards‍ and a touchdown, alongside effective run blocking.

However, the defensive‍ side of the ball proved problematic for San Francisco. Cornerback Renardo Green struggled against both Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, undoing ⁤recent progress. linebacker ‍Luke Gifford⁣ was repeatedly targeted ‍by the Rams’ offense, becoming a clear liability, prompting the team to utilize the big ‌Nickel formation with Jason Pinnock at⁤ SAM⁣ linebacker. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh drew criticism for leaving Gifford on the field.‍ Safeties ⁣Ji’Ayir Brown⁣ and Malik Mustapha also underperformed, with Brown exhibiting issues in both run ⁣and pass defense ⁣and Mustapha’s play⁣ being particularly poor. Defensive tackle Jordan Elliott was consistently exploited by the Rams’ “duo” run play and⁣ committed a costly fourth-and-1 encroachment penalty late in the game.

NFL Week 9 Picks Against the Spread: Three-Week Winning Streak Fuels Bold Predictions

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 30, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Bills Buck Trend, Predicted to Upset chiefs in Week 9 Clash

NEW YORK – In a week of ⁤intriguing NFL⁢ matchups, analysts are surprisingly leaning towards an upset in‍ Kansas City. Despite Patrick ⁢Mahomes and the Chiefs ⁤appearing to rediscover‌ their form, a⁣ consensus pick emerging from several predictions favors the Buffalo bills to cover the spread – currently at Chiefs -2 – in their Sunday afternoon showdown (4:25 p.m. ET on ‍CBS).

The rationale centers on‌ a historical pattern and the Bills’ focused roster construction. While‍ Mahomes is enjoying a‌ resurgence with a healthy⁣ receiving corps and a knack ⁢for converting fourth downs (14 of ‌16 attempts), the Bills‌ have won their last four regular-season matchups against Kansas City by an average of 8 points.

“They are coming off a rare loss in their last home game, their roster was constructed for the sole purpose‍ of beating the Chiefs ⁣and they have won the past four regular-season matchups against Kansas‍ City ‌by an average of‍ 8 points,” one ‍analyst noted.

Beyond the head-to-head record, the ‌Bills’ motivation is also a key factor. Coming ⁤off a recent home loss, they’re viewed as particularly driven to ⁢secure⁢ a‍ win against their‍ AFC rival.

Other Week 9‌ Picks Against the‍ Spread:

* Jaguars: ⁤ Favored to break ⁣their losing ‌streak against the Raiders (4:05 p.m.ET on Fox).
* ⁢ Rams: ‌ Expected to handle the Saints ⁢despite perhaps looking ahead to a ‍future ⁤game (4:05 p.m. ET on Fox).
* Commanders: Contingent on the ⁤health of quarterback Jayden Daniels‌ (8:20 p.m. ET on NBC).
* Cardinals: predicted to cover against‌ the Cowboys, despite a recent losing streak⁢ (8:15 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN).

Best Bets: Broncos over Texans, Lions,⁤ Colts, and Rams are also highlighted as strong picks. ‍A contrarian bet suggests⁤ the panthers could cover a large spread in Green Bay.

Upset Special: The Falcons, at +200, are identified as⁢ a potential shocker, mirroring the Jets’ unexpected⁢ victory⁣ the previous week.

Title: Muscat Frontrunner for Rangers Job Amid Rohl Uncertainty

by Alex Carter - Sports Editor October 15, 2025
written by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Kevin Muscat is in ‌advanced contract talks with Rangers ⁢owners as he edges closer to becoming the clubS next manager. The former ‍Ibrox⁢ player and current Yokohama F. Marinos boss ‌is believed ‍to be the leading candidate to replace Philippe Clement, ‍who departed for Monaco ⁣earlier‍ this week.

the‍ potential appointment of Muscat, previously ⁣identified by Clement’s predecessor as an ‍ideal‍ right-hand man, ⁤could‌ see current interim manager Steven Davis remain in a temporary role before transitioning to an assistant position. Sources indicate an proclamation regarding Muscat’s arrival could come before Friday, despite Davis continuing to formulate his own backroom plans.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Neil ‌McCann had⁤ been previously highlighted by Muscat as a potential assistant ‍during the⁢ search that ultimately led to Clement’s appointment in October 2023. Davis has been actively⁤ pursuing additions to his potential staff, ⁣including a ⁢coaching‍ role for ⁤Rangers Hall of famer Steven davis and a possible position for another former⁣ Rangers captain, Lee Wallace.

Davis‌ currently serves on the coaching staff of ‍the Northern Ireland ⁣national team under Michael O’Neill. He had two playing spells with Rangers and briefly held the caretaker ‌manager position following⁤ Michael Beale’s ‍dismissal. The 36-year-old Davis has been progressing with his own plans for the team, even as negotiations with Muscat⁢ advance.
