Shedeur Sanders made his first start as the Browns‘ quarterback in Week 13 against the Raiders, leading the team to a 20-17 victory. Sanders connected with tight end Harold โFannin Jr. forโค a 17-yard gain during the โfourth offensive drive, and later threw aโข 52-yard pass to Isaiah Bond. This set up aโข 1-yard touchdownโฃ run by Quinshon Judkins, giving theโ Browns a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Sanders also directed twoโ fourth-quarter scoring โdrives, resulting in a 53-yard field goal by Andre Szmyt andโ a 66-yard touchdown reception โฃby Dylan Sampson.
“First startโค for anyโค youngโ quarterback, you’re always going toโค make sureโ the operation is how you wantโค it, and I thought โby and large was good,”โ said coach Stefanski. “There’sโข things that we can clean up, and that goes on all of us as coaches, that’sโ the players, quarterback where we can clean up some ofโ our operation. โButโ I thought dialogue was really goodโข throughoutโฃ the โขday โขwith โhim. And the bigโ playsโ down the field, obviously that first one to (Isaiah Bond) wasโ a very high degree of difficulty on โคthatโฃ play. Are there things that he can do better? Absolutely, and we’ve already talked aboutโค that โคwith him. He has the โคmentality โthat he will make the โadjustments to the โคspeed of the game, make the adjustments to what people are giving usโฃ to make those improvements.”
Sanders previously saw regular-season action โin the โฃsecond half of Week 11โ against the ravens, completing 4โ of 16 passes forโค 47 yards and one interception. He was officially named the โstarter for Week 12 โon November 19, โallowing him a full week of practice with theโ first-team offense.
