BOISE, Idaho – San โDiego State securedโ a spot in the Mountain West Conference Women’s Soccer Semifinals Sunday night, defeating Colorado State 1-0 in theโ quarterfinal round. The Aztecs’ late goalโ and stellar defensive performance propel them forward in the tournament,โ hosted by Boise State.
The victory marks the second consecutive contest where San Diego โคState (9-4-6) has won โคwith a game-winning goal in โthe final eight minutes, following a similar โคresult โคagainst New โMexico last Thursday that earned them a tournament berth. โThey will now face top-seeded Boise State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. PT, with the winner advancing โขtoโ the Mountain Westโค Championship Final on Saturday.
A tightly contested matchโฃ saw bothโ teamsโ prioritize defense, resulting in a combined total ofโ just four shots on goal. San Diego State goalkeeper Kailey Carlen proved pivotal,โ recording three โฃsaves throughout the night, including crucial stops in the 5th and 88th minutes.
