NEW YORK – Russia teased United States of America (US) who claimed that Moscow used missiles North Korea (North Korea) to attack various targets in Ukraine.

Russia’s Permanent Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya called Washington a disseminator of false information over the claim.

Washington previously accused Russia of buying North Korean ballistic missiles and using them in mass attacks on targets in Ukraine in December and again last week.

In remarks last Thursday, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby condemned what he claimed was a “significant and concerning escalation”. Washington’s allies later raised the issue at a UN Security Council briefing on Ukraine.

Nebenzya dismissed the accusations, citing statements by Ukrainian officials. Yuri Ignat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, said on national television that there was no forensic evidence to confirm the US claim.

“It turns out that the United States deliberately imitated false information without providing direct information to the parties involved,” said Nebenzya in a UNSC briefing, as quoted from RTFriday (12/1/2024).

North Korea is under UN sanctions, which include an arms embargo, for developing nuclear weapons and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

Moscow and Pyongyang have stated that while they have good relations, their cooperation does not cross those lines, contrary to Western claims.

Ukrainian Drone Attack on Moscow: Latest News and Updates

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The war between Russia and Ukraine is still ongoing today. Most recently, Kremlin authorities claimed that Kyiv attacked Moscow with dozens of drones overnight, Sunday (26/11/2023) local time.

The Ukrainian drone attack was claimed to have been carried out a day after Russia launched a similar attack on its neighboring country. Ukrainian officials previously acknowledged being attacked in what they called the “most intense” attack on Kyiv since the start of full-scale war in 2022.

“Russian air defenses downed at least 24 drones in the Moscow region – which surrounds, but does not include the capital,” reported CNBC Internationalciting the Russian Defense Ministry and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

“(Other drones attacked) four other provinces in the south and west,” he added but made no mention of any casualties.

The governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyev, wrote on Telegram that the drone strike damaged three unnamed buildings there. He added that no one was injured.

Meanwhile, a Russian Telegram channel reported that a drone crashed into a 12-story apartment block in the western Russian city of Tula, about 180 kilometers (113 miles) south of Moscow. This attack is said to have injured one resident and frightened other residents.

“Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports in Moscow were also closed due to the drone attack,” according to the Russian state news agency, TASS, although data from international flight tracking portals showed that both airports resumed normal operations at 6 a.m. local time.

Still quoted from Russian Telegram, speculation emerged that Ukrainian troops had deployed a type of drone that had never been seen before in the attack. It shows some similarities to the Iranian-made weapons that Moscow routinely uses in its attacks on Ukraine.

In fact, the Russian capital has been under frequent drone attacks since May, and Russian officials have blamed Ukraine for the attacks. Military analysts commented at the time that the initial strikes used locally made Ukrainian drones that could not carry a payload as heavy as the Iranian-made Shahed.

As of Sunday morning, Ukrainian officials had not acknowledged or commented on the drone attack on Russia.

For information, the day before Russia targeted the Ukrainian capital with more than 60 Iranian-made Shahed drones. At least five civilians were injured in the hours-long attack, which left several buildings damaged by falling drone debris, including a kindergarten. The injured victims included an 11-year-old child.

Alexa’s Prediction of World War 3 and Geopolitical Conflicts

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 13, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Signs of World War 3 continue to emerge as geopolitical conflicts become increasingly sharp in a number of regions. In fact, Amazon’s artificial intelligence (AI), Alexa, already has its own predictions.

A video depicts Alexa’s detailed response after being asked when the great war broke out.

“World War 3 started on November 23 2023 at 18:05, when Russia launched an attack on Germany,” said Alexa as quoted from Daily StarMonday (13/11/2023).

Even so, many people doubt this. Steve Rabuchin, Vice President of Amazon Alexa, clearly said that Alexa answers can be personalized.

“You don’t need any skill-building or coding experience to get started. My family created our own prank skill in minutes, and it’s been fun interacting with Alexa in a completely new and personal way,” he explained.

Alexa’s answer came shortly after the Chairman of the Military Committee of the NATO defense pact, Rob Bauer, expressed the alliance’s readiness to face direct confrontation with Russia. This comes at a time when relations between the alliance and Moscow are at their hottest point due to the war in Ukraine.

In an interview with Portugal’s RTP TV, Bauer said that NATO had prepared for this by forming a number of battle groups along its eastern flank. He explained that the defense pact would increase the strength of Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

“I think it is an important message for Russia, that our posture has changed, to show them that we are ready if they have the idea of coming to NATO,” Bauer told the media, quoted by Russia Today.

“This is an important signal to Russia that we are ready if they decide to go after NATO. This is a red line. If there is a red line, it is Russia that crosses our border,” added another report from Ukrainian media, Ukrainska Pravda.

Bauer went on to say that for decades, many NATO countries thought they could decide when and where to deploy their troops. However, currently, with the situation of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Bauer said that Moscow has a big role to play in encouraging the alliance’s military stance.

Russia itself attacked Ukraine since February last year because of Kyiv’s intention to join NATO. The alliance has long been seen as Moscow’s rival, so Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO is seen by the Kremlin as a threat to its security.

Meanwhile, to this day, a number of NATO patrons such as the United States (US), Britain and Germany have provided weapons support for Ukraine to push back Russian troops.

World conditions were also worsened by the war in Gaza which broke out on October 7 2023. Hamas attacked Israel and was retaliated against by the Jewish State. However, Israeli attacks mostly hit civilians, causing a humanitarian crisis there.

A number of countries have also spoken out regarding the war. In fact, some of them firmly side with one side, creating the risk of widespread geopolitical tensions.

Abu Dhabi – A Russian pilot who was on holiday with his family in the United Arab Emirates, went to the United States (US) Embassy because he did not want to take part in Moscow’s massive invasion of Ukraine.

Telegram channel Spy Dossier, which claims to have ties to Russian intelligence agencies, said that a pilot from a Russian national guard squadron, Rosgvardia, had submitted an application to the American Embassy in the United Arab Emirates.

“A new escape case of a Russian pilot has been revealed today,” the post said.

The post said that the pilot and his family were in Dubai in late September, and after enjoying the desert, they decided to come to the US Embassy.

Reporting from Newsweek, Tuesday, October 3 2023, the American Embassy in the UAE is in its capital, Abu Dhabi. The US also has a consulate in Dubai.

The Russian soldier appeared at the mission stating that he refused to fight and expressed his readiness to cooperate with the US.

“Russia’s main intelligence agency, the FSB, is investigating the case and questioning the pilot’s colleagues,” he added.

It is unclear whether the pilot went to Dubai with the intention of defecting while there.

Spy Dossier said the move was inspired by the story of his friend Lieutenant Anton Vasiliev, said to be a fighter pilot and trainee who left Russia during the war and now lives in Los Angeles.

“He spent his free time traveling. Organizing training camps for Ukrainian soldiers and, possibly, sharing official information with representatives of the Pentagon.”

“The FSB believes that it was Anton Vasiliev who convinced Gavrichenko of the need to flee,” the post said.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s domestic affairs adviser Anton Gerashchenko said that the Russian pilot fled Moscow and wanted to cooperate with the US special services.

“There is data that the Russian security services are very disturbed by this and are now considering closing the borders to Russian pilots and officers in general, as well as their families,” Gerashchenko added.

Can the M1 Abrams Tank Shake Russia?

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 3, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

Multiple units tank M1 Abrams United States flagship, has arrived in Ukraine to assist in the counterattack on Russian-occupied territory. Called tough and world class, is the M1 Abrams capable of shaking Russia?

Quoted detikINET from Popular Mechanic, 31 Abrams tanks reportedly entered Ukraine this week, possibly transported from Poland. The tank is a version of the M1A1 Abrams, about 20 years older than the US Army’s current standard M1A2SEPv3. The US initially planned to send new tanks, but this did not happen because the production period took too long.

Even though it is outdated and lacks certain modern features, this tank is still considered tough. The US also provides special depleted uranium weapons on Abrams tanks, which are seen as effective in destroying enemy tanks.

However, even though it seems like a lot, 31 tanks are considered too few. This number is too small to make a significant contribution on the Ukrainian battlefield.

“Tanks are big machines and require heavy maintenance. A tank battalion with 31 tanks will rarely go into battle with all its units. A certain percentage will have mechanical problems, or something else that prevents them from entering the fight. Russian drones will probably detect them before the battle and damage them with ammunition from the air,” said Popular Mechanic.

A Ukrainian tank battalion might go into battle with 90% of its tank units. Even if the battle was successful, they might lose 25% of their tanks to mines and anti-tank guns.

“What used to be 31 tanks has now become 19 tanks, so the unit is unable to carry out further combat operations,” they added.

Not to mention calculating other factors such as crew rest and repairs if there is damage. Worse, Washington has not provided additional tanks to replace combat losses. This means that battered Abrams tank battalions may be out of action for some time.

In general, the US and other western countries did not provide enough tanks for Ukraine. The Abrams tank is thought to easily defeat Russian tanks, but there are too few units to make a difference.

“Abrams are good tanks and it’s good that they were sent to Ukraine. The problem is, the Biden administration only provided 31 tanks, even though it could easily provide 310 units. The Ukrainian army may be one of the best in Europe at piloting these tanks, but it doesn’t matter how big their bags are , that small unit will probably be swallowed up in this massive conflict,” concluded Popular Mechanic.

Why Tank-on-Tank Battles are Rare in Ukraine and the Impact on the Abrams Tank

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 3, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Jakarta –

Tank M1A1 Abrams made in the United States has arrived in Ukraine. This tank is intended, among other things, to destroy other tanks, but this ability may not be very useful on the battlefield against Russia. Why is that?

Ukrainian officials told The Wall Street Journal that less than 5% of tanks damaged since Russia’s full-scale invasion were destroyed by other tanks.

As quoted detikINET from Insider, apparently the majority of tanks were damaged by land mines, drones, anti-tank missiles and artillery. Battles between one tank and another tank rarely occur.

Tank battles certainly still exist, as recent battlefield footage shows, but they are quite rare. Land warfare experts at the Royal United Services Institute noted earlier this year in a report that “tank-on-tank combat is becoming relatively rare.”

So in that situation, the Abrams tank may have less opportunity to show its best ability, namely destroying the opponent’s tank.

So it remains to be seen how Abrams will perform in support of Kyiv forces in Ukraine. A former US Army officer told Insider that the M1A1 is still far superior to Russian tanks and can keep its crew safe from gunfire while causing massive damage. But the tank requires hefty logistics and significant maintenance.

The main goal in the initial planning of the Abrams tank was to dominate and defeat major threats, with a focus on Soviet armored forces. In the Gulf War, the Abrams demonstrated exactly what it was capable of, destroying Soviet-made Iraqi T-72s without suffering any losses to enemy action. Sometimes enemy shots even bounce off the tank.

But in Ukraine, it’s possible that the tanks that performed so well during the Gulf War didn’t stand much of a fighting chance against Russian tanks.

Both Ukraine and Russia have revolutionized the use of cheap, domestically produced drones to destroy more expensive tanks, flying at them and exploding or dropping explosives onto the tanks.

Another threat to armored vehicles in this war is army-borne anti-tank missiles such as the Javelin and NLAWS, as well as missiles fired from attack helicopters. Therefore, battles between tanks are difficult.
