NATO Soldiers as Mercenaries in Ukraine – Russian General Staff Claims

MOSCOW – NATO soldiers fight against the military Russia in the Ukrainian conflict by disguising himself as a mercenary. This was claimed by the deputy chief of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy, a few days after Moscow dealt a major blow to Kiev by capturing the main city of Donbass, the city of Avdeevka.

“Ukraine’s shelling of Russian civilians – most of which was carried out from Avdeevka in previous years – occurred on the orders of Kiev and with the tacit approval of Western countries,” said the deputy chief of the Russian General Staff, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy , to the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.

The US and its allies provide Ukraine with a comprehensive arsenal and provide communications services and intelligence information. “But some of the equipment requires qualified Western personnel in the field,” said Rudskoy.

He revealed that NATO soldiers disguised as mercenaries participated in military operations. “They control air defense systems, operational-tactical missiles and several rocket launch systems, and enter into assault detachments,” Rudskoy said.

NATO officers directly prepare military operations for the Ukrainian armed forces.

In mid-January, the Russian Defense Ministry announced it had killed more than 60 foreign fighters in precision strikes, the majority of whom were French speakers.

Although France later denied that any of its armed forces were in Ukraine, the French defense minister admitted that some French citizens went to war as “volunteers” – and claimed that as a “democracy”, Paris could not stop them from doing so.

According to Russian Defense Ministry estimates, more than 5,900 foreign mercenaries have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the conflict in February 2022. The Ukrainian Army suffered nearly 160,000 casualties during disastrous counteroffensive last year alone, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

“Kiev suffered heavy losses, failing to penetrate Russia’s tactical defense zone, while the Russian Army studied and tested new ways of warfare,” Rudskoy said. He added that after the capture of Avdeevka, Russian troops improved their positions along the line of contact.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Announces Dismissal of Top Commanders in Ukraine Military Overhaul

Jakarta –

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announces the dismissal of top commanders Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The dismissals are in the biggest military overhaul since the start of Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago.

In a Telegram post shared shortly before the official announcement, Zelensky said he had a meeting with Zaluzhnyi. Zelensky admitted to ‘discussing what kind of reforms the Ukrainian Armed Forces need.’

“The time for such an update is now,” wrote Zelensky in Telegram, reported by CNN, Friday (9/2/2024).

Zelensky has also appointed Zaluzhnyi’s replacement, namely Oleksandr Syrskyi, who since 2019 has served as Commander of the Ukrainian Army.

Zaluzhnyi wrote on his Telegram channel on Thursday that ‘the task of 2022 is different from the task of 2024’.

“Therefore, everyone has to change and adapt to the new reality as well. [Kami] just met with the Supreme Commander. It was an important and serious conversation. It was decided that we needed to change our approach and strategy,” Zaluzhnyi said in his telegram.

Rumors of Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal began circulating in Kyiv last week after he was called into a meeting at the president’s office and told he was fired, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Zelensky’s office initially denied the rumors, but the information was confirmed on Thursday.

Zaluzhnyi – who was appointed army chief by Zelensky in July 2021 – was offered the new position by the president, but he turned it down, according to one of the sources. It remains unclear whether Zaluzhnyi decided to remain involved with the military in some capacity.

Russia Receives 1 Million Artillery Shells from North Korea, Ukraine Faces Ammunition Shortage

Jakarta –

Ukraine is increasingly lacking ammunition to fight, while Russia continues to increase its ammunition production, aided by North Korea. In fact, Ukraine says Russia got one million artillery shells from North Korea at a time when Ukraine is having difficulty getting supplies from its ally.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself made the statement. “Intelligence confirms that Russia will receive one million artillery shells from Pyongyang,” Zelenskyy said in his speech, quoted by detikINET from Insider.

“Meanwhile, unfortunately the implementation of Europe’s plans to supply one million artillery shells to Ukraine is delayed,” he said.

Yes, the European Union did not send a million ammunition to Ukraine as promised in March last year, because production levels were still lagging behind. The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, said he had delivered 330,000 rounds of artillery ammunition to Ukraine between March 2023 and January, and he expected to deliver a total of 524,000 rounds by March 2024, half of what was promised.

“But this is still a work in progress. The whole machine in the European defense industry is working, and member countries are giving orders for it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Republicans in the United States continue to block a USD 66 billion aid package for Ukraine. The gap in arms supplies to Russia and Ukraine has real consequences on the battlefield.

The Ukrainian army is reportedly having difficulty repelling massive Russian attacks and is due to a shortage of ammunition provided by Western countries and high levels of Russian production.

Ukraine is limited to firing 2,000 artillery shells a day, or roughly a third as much as Russia. In his speech, Zelenskyy said that North Korea sending more than a million artillery shells to Russia was a signal of global competition, in which Europe should not lose.

Russian-Occupied City of Luhansk Attack: 8 Killed, 10 Injured in Bakery Bombing

Luhansk –

Moscow authorities said it was an attack Ukraine in the Russian-occupied city of Lysychansk, Lugansk killed 8 people. Russia said 10 other people were injured in the attack.

Reported by AFP, Sunday (4/2/2024), the attack occurred at a bakery in Lysychansk, in the Lugansk region. Russian authorities said there was a possibility that the number of victims would increase because of the damage to the bakery.

Lysychansk fell to Russian forces after brutal fighting six months after Moscow’s attack in 2022.

Russian troops say that Ukraine had attacked a building housing a popular bakery and it was believed more victims were buried in the rubble.

“According to current data, eight people were killed and 10 others were injured as a result of the shooting at a bakery in Lysychansk of varying degrees of severity,” Russian-appointed Health Minister of the Lugansk region, Natalia Pashchenko, said via Telegram.

“Rescue teams also found, initially, about 10 people under the rubble. There were also dead among them,” he added.

The Lugansk governor installed in Moscow, Leonid Pasechnik, said Kyiv had targeted a bakery known to have fresh bread at weekends.

RIA Novosti published video of a heavily damaged building, with emergency workers removing a completely destroyed car.

The one-story building had a large sign saying ‘Adriatic Restaurant’ and appeared to be completely destroyed and covered in rubble.

Authorities set up in Moscow said a wounded man in serious condition was taken to a hospital in the city of Lugansk, where three other injured people would also be taken.

Pasechnik said local police and emergency services were at the scene and trying to save the victims with special equipment.

Lysychansk had a population of around 111,000 people before the Russian attack.

Russia took control of the region and the city of Severodonetsk in the summer of 2022 after some of the most brutal fighting of their nearly two-year offensive.

MOSCOW – A fire broke out at the Baltic Sea terminal located in the Port of St. Petersburg. Petersburg, belongs to Novatek, the largest producer of liquefied natural gas in Russia . The explosion followed a suspected Ukrainian drone strike, forcing the company to halt some operations there.

The terminal complex is called Ust-Luga, which is located in the Gulf of Finland about 170 km west of St. Petersburg. Petersburg, processes stabilized gas condensate into light and heavy naphtha, jet fuel, fuel oil and other fuels. The port is used to send processed products to international markets.

The Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing unnamed sources, said the fire was the result of a special operation carried out by Ukraine’s security services.

“The Ust-Luga Oil Terminal in the Leningrad region is an important facility for the enemy. “Fuel is refined there, which, among other things, is also supplied to Russian troops,” said one of the sources, reported by Reuters.

“A successful attack on such a terminal not only causes economic damage to the enemy, depriving the invaders of the opportunity to earn money to fight in Ukraine, but also significantly complicates fuel logistics for the Russian military.”

Reuters could not confirm that the fire was caused by a Ukrainian drone strike.

Alexander Drozdenko, governor of the Leningrad region, said via the Telegram messaging app that there were no casualties and all workers had been safely evacuated.

Russian news agencies reported that two storage tanks and a pumping station had been damaged, but the fire was now under control.

BRUSSELS – NATO announced on Thursday that it would begin its largest war games in decades next week, involving 90,000 troops. These maneuvers will test the allies’ ability for months to engage in conflict with such an enemy Russia.

The war games, dubbed Steadfast Defender 2024, will run until the end of May and involve units from all 31 NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) member states plus potential new members; Sweden. This was announced by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Christopher Cavoli.

“The alliance will demonstrate its ability to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic region through transatlantic force movements from North America,” the United States general told reporters in Brussels, as quoted ReutersFriday (19/1/2024).

According to Cavoli, the troops will come from NATO allies and Sweden.

The war games, consisting of a series of smaller individual exercises, will take place from North America to NATO’s eastern flank, near the Russian border. It will involve 50 Navy ships, 80 aircraft and more than 1,100 combat vehicles.

Furthermore, this maneuver—the largest since the 1988 Reforger exercises during the Cold War—came as NATO overhauled its defenses in the face of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The US-led alliance has sent thousands of troops to its eastern flank and laid out the most extensive plans since the collapse of the Soviet Union to protect itself from a Russian attack.

Adm. Rob Bauer, chairman of NATO’s military committee, said the scale of the exercise was a demonstration of the alliance’s renewed readiness.
