Kyiv –

Soldier Ukraine have reclaimed the village of Staromaiorske from troops Russia. The Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Ganna Maliar, said that his troops were currently increasing counterattacks against Russia.

“Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region has been liberated. Our defenders are currently conducting a clearing operation for the Russian troops,” Maliar said on Telegram as reported by AFP, Friday (28/7/2023).

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video on Telegram showing a group of soldiers with Ukrainian flags, saying they had liberated the village of Staromaoirske.

“Our south. Our people. Glory to Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.

The expulsion of Russian troops from the village will mark one of the first victories on the southern front since Ukraine began its counteroffensive in June, aimed at expelling Russian troops from the Ukrainian territory they have occupied.

On the sidelines of a summit with African leaders in Saint Petersburg, Russian President Vladimir Putin said fighting had increased significantly in the southern region of Zaporizhzhia.

Vladimir Putin expresses doubt about the impact of Western arms assistance in Ukraine

Jakarta –

President of Russia Vladimir Putin convey support to arms assistance from Western countries to Ukraine vain. He said the aid had not helped Ukraine at all.

“In any case, there is no result of the counterattack yet,” Putin said in a televised speech from a meeting of the Kremlin’s Security Council.

Putin said that any resources sent by other countries to Ukraine have not had any impact. He even said that the assistance of armored vehicles to missiles from Western countries did not help Ukraine at all.

“Neither the colossal resources that have been pumped into the Kiev regime, nor the Western supply of weapons, tanks, artillery, armored vehicles and missiles has helped,” Putin said.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, a senior presidential aide in Kiev told AFP the operation would be long and difficult. Ukraine also asked allies to send more armored vehicles and weapons.

Poland, one of Ukraine’s staunchest allies, responded to the request. Poandia has indeed provided Kiev with arms and welcomed refugees. However, to date, Poland has shown no interest in sending troops to Ukraine.

Poland has also beefed up its defenses on the border with Russia-allied Belarus, where fighters from Wagner’s mercenary force moved after the aborted uprising in Russia.

Moscow: Putin Calls Ukraine Attack on Kerch Bridge a Terrorist Attack

Moscow: Putin Calls Ukraine Attack on Kerch Bridge a Terrorist Attack

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 17, 2023

Moscow –

Russian President Vladimir Putin call attack Ukraine on the Kerch Bridge as a terrorist attack. The main bridge connects the incorporated Crimea peninsula to the Russian mainland and is of immense strategic and symbolic importance to Moscow.

“Tonight another terrorist attack took place on that bridge. As a result of the terrorist attack, the highways on several spans of the Crimea bridge were seriously damaged. As a result, car and train traffic was temporarily stopped,” Putin told a meeting with officials, as reported by CNN, Tuesday (18/7/2023).

Putin asked his country’s authorities, including the FSB, to investigate the incident and called for measures to secure the strategically important transport facilities from future attacks.

“It is important to comprehensively assess the damage caused and start restoration work as soon as possible,” he said.

Putin said that there would be a Russian response to the attack. “The Ministry of Defense is preparing relevant proposals,” Putin said.

Putin also claimed there was no military interest in destroying the bridge.

“This is an unreasonable crime from an insignificant point of view because the Crimean bridge has long been disused for military transport and brutal since innocent civilians were killed,” he stressed.

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Marat Khusnullin, said that the straight bridge struts for Kerch were not damaged by the explosion. He claimed divers were completing inspections of the bridge and a decision on possibly launching car traffic would be made within two hours.

Early Monday, a source from the Ukrainian security service (SBU) said that the attack on the Crimea Bridge was a joint operation between the SBU and the Ukrainian navy. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because they had not received permission to speak on the tape.

As is known, an explosion rocked the Crimea bridge that connects the region in eastern Ukraine with mainland Russia. At least two people were killed and a girl was seriously injured by the explosion that rocked the bridge which was inaugurated directly by President Vladimir Putin.

Photos taken by Reuters from the scene show no traffic on the 19-kilometre stretch of highway that connects Crimea — which the Kremlin annexed from Ukraine in 2014 — with Russia.

In addition to the highway, there is also a railroad track on the bridge. Unverified satellite imagery showed the metal railing on the bridge bent, with debris strewn about and a wrecked car visible on the bridge.

Kramatorsk –

Missiles Russia hit a restaurant in Kramatorsk, Ukraine east. At least three people died and more than 40 were injured in the attack.

Reported by AFP, Wednesday (28/6/2023), Ukrainian police said Russia fired two missiles into the city of Kramatorsk.

“The bodies of three people, including a minor born in 2008, have been recovered from the rubble. Among the injured is a child born in 2022,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said on Telegram.

Ukraine’s emergency services said that 42 people were injured in the attack which destroyed the city’s popular Ria Pizza restaurant.

“There were a lot of people there — there were children under the rubble,” said Yevgen, who was eating with two friends.

“We were just about to leave but one of his friends is now under the rubble,” he added to AFP after the blast.

A crowd quickly gathered at the site, where the fire continued to burn as soldiers and rescue workers searched for other victims.

Donetsk governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said two Russian rockets had hit the city once home to 150,000 people, one of the largest still under Ukrainian control in the east of the besieged country.

Meanwhile, a resident named Natalia said through tears that her half-sister Nikita (23) was near the pizza oven at the restaurant.

“They couldn’t get him out, he was covered in debris,” he said.

Several nearby buildings were also damaged in attacks on the city, which has been a frequent Russian target since its invasion in February 2022.

Kramatorsk was located about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the front line.

“People told me they heard airplanes, there was a hiss and then explosions,” said a 19-year-old Ukrainian soldier who gave his combat name “Ghost” and was nearby when the attack occurred.

He quickly entered the restaurant to help save the workers.

“A girl is trapped, injured. They haven’t been able to get her out.”

Former Slovak Chief Justice Stefan Harabin charged with supporting Russian invasion of Ukraine

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Bratislava –

Former Minister of Justice who is also the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court SlovakiaStefan Harabin has been charged with a post praising Russian invasion of Ukraine. Harabin also faces up to 3 years in prison if convicted.

As reported by AFP, Tuesday (6/6/2023), the Slovak Prosecutor’s Office said Harabin was charged because, a day after Russian troops entered Ukraine on February 24, 2022, wrote on Facebook that he would do the exact same thing as (Russian President Vladimir) Putin . A spokesperson for the Chief Prosecutor’s Office in Slovakia, Zuzan Drobova, said that Harabin was charged with defamation of nationality, race and persuasion, and supporting crimes.

However, he declined to provide further details as criminal proceedings were still ongoing. Meanwhile, the Dennik N daily said Harabin faced three years in prison if convicted.

Harabin also said, on Monday (5/6), that he was proud of his statement. He also did not hesitate to repeat his statement because he believed that Russia was acting in accordance with international law.

Harabin also claimed in a video interview posted on YouTube that it was Russia’s duty to exterminate all Ukrainian Nazis.

“They have killed 14,000 children, women and elderly people in the Donbass since 2014,” Harabin said.

To note, Harabin also served two terms as chairman of the Supreme Court and ran for president in the 2019 ballot. However, he was defeated by Zuzana Caputova who is the current head of state.

He has repeatedly drawn criticism for sharing fake migrant-related news on Facebook and criticizing European Union sanctions against Russia. Slovakia, a European Union nation of 5.4 million people, has provided Ukraine with substantial humanitarian and military assistance since Russia invaded.
